Zimo, Kolmo, and MV.
Perhpas you missed some points from Express--'s post? She made some excellent points that I neglected and it wasn't good of me to do so.
So don't play with someone if you don't wish, don't talk to them, but stop denigrating. (even when we are insulted)
Will I be as good as express-- is concerning this? Heck no. I am a LOOOOOOOONG way off. I can't promise that I will be a totally nice guy all the time, I can just keep plugging along and trying (most of the time I guess).
I've said it before and I'll probably say it again....
In the words of that icon of humanity...Rodney King....
"Can't we all jus git along?"

Uhm, Baron, didn't you just do exactly the same thing two weeks ago? Pointing out the fallacies of Monstar's ramblings?

rest assured that I have a nice job and a bunch of real friends whom some of the ttr-players have already met in person...
|
I don't mean this harshly, I just mean it as a fact. Regarding the sentance above, NO ONE CARES. Not only do "they" not care about whether you have a nice job and friends but "they" don't care if I do, or if thekid or Erps does. Do you care if thekid has lots of friends and a nice job? No, you do not. You don't care if he has 18,452 best friends in the world because you don't like some of his online persona. Maybe there is a lesson in that????
| Monstarmaster wrote on Fri, 21 November 2008 16:35 |
Besides, Angel: As I am online quite often let me state that the amount of games played is no ultimate indicator for the amount of time spent in the TTR-realm.
|
No one cares.
| Monstarmaster wrote on Fri, 21 November 2008 16:35 |
Tyrana e.g. is usually online here chatting in the lobby etc. when I arrive and she is still there when I leave the lobby...and this does not mean that she is just virtually present while not being in front of her PC...she answers when being addressed almost every time (even though she might be multitasking sometimes). Her games take much longer than my games (in general) as she hardly ever plays random people (the typical 5-10 minutes games with strangers) - her 2pl games last up to 1 h if there is a lot of talk to be done during the game. Still she manages to organise her life with husband and 2 kids.
|
Why do you even mention this? Who cares? Does it make you feel better to say someone who everyone likes spends a lot of time online.
| Monstarmaster wrote on Fri, 21 November 2008 16:35 |
So, all in all, a lot of people spend a lot of time here while not necessarily playing games. Another player "haunting" the lobby for several hours - at least sometimes and it should be admitted that he does not do so any longer lately - is Baron. So many people spend hours and hours per day in the ttr-realm while not always playing games but "socialising" in other ways.
Finally, the majority of my games are 5-10 minutes 2pl games against anyone who enters them (be it a 1700, be it a 1100 player). I daresay that I am one of the fastest players here - when not complaining during a game to someone.
So my style could be described as less time-consuming and basically efficient.
That's it.

So let me get this straight. Your last diatribe here at the end is making the EXACT same point that Angel was trying to make but which somehow escaped you? That is pretty funny. Angel was saying a lot of players spend ALOT of time on TTR. And that you were getting to 10,000 within a year and that was very fast (meaning you play fast games).
You crack me up sometimes. Trying to "defend" yourself when there was no attack and bringing up yet again what a nice person you are when you aren't being a "monstar" on ttr. I hope I never have to hear it again.

B,
Getting along does not entail we stop arguing.
Express' point is interesting. But chiding is chiding, how softly and respectful and smiling it may be. You don't always eliminate a threathening behavior by just ignoring it, not even in one's own family.

TruckerTeller - If you were trying to make a point of some sort then I believe you did not succeed.
Kolmo - You make a very good point. Thank you for the constructive input. It gives me something more to think about, consider and try to incorporate.

I've never followed the 2er rankings as closely as others, so I cant tell about 2000 for Kasi and Kostas. But I don't recall having seen it all.
Kostas reached 1865 for sure, but same, better to ask his confirmation... if he ever tracks it...
If 1825/1840 overall happens to be fairly common (lately: Kostass, Kasi, Anu, Angel, Will, Truck, Kaogum, myself and maybe 1 or 2 others...), 2000 in 2er still remains a rarity.
Almost a year after the point inflation, I think the scoring finally found its stabilization point.
Top 20 set around 1740.
Top 60 at 1760.
Top 100 at 1660.
If multi players would play more often 1700+ games, another good streak could lead one of us (Kao, Kostas, Tom, I or someone else) fairly high.
With more chances for Kostas, the true dominator on the USA map overall, being the best player combining 1600+ multis, 1450+ 2er and 1650+ 2ers.
On 2ers, looks like streaks would work better against 1450-1600 players with a top 100 here and there.
Regular random top100/top200 2ers on the USA are now almost extinct.
I hope SPWC/EMC etc... will show some strong level of play... Last year, I felt like some the players showed up hands in the pocket - my only rational explanation to have me in final-... Bit of a bummer...
Anyway, grats to Truckie : 2000 in Europe (yes!) and in 2ers shows there's still room for some achievements to perform here!
Wish you would be part of a Euroleague season to watch some crafty stuff! But that's a selfish desire from someone who likes to watch the game as much as I like to play it!
