Any other Expansions coming? Mon, 16 February 2009 03:44
Any meatier expansions coming for this great game? While I and my gaming group liked Merlin's Company, it didn't add much to the game. That isn't to say I wouldn't buy it again. I would, but am looking for (and hoping) for a bigger expansion, something with maybe some more quests.

There doesn't appear to be any that I've ever heard about, although I think that any future expansions would possibly be of the swapping components kind. I just don't know how to practically expand this game without it being detrimental to the play experience. (But I'm not a game designer either Rolling Eyes )

I personally find that Merlin's Company added tremendously to the gameplay experience even though it didn't add a whole lot physically.

I am hoping they will eventually be expanding. There are so many other places to take this. I'm only an amateur designer, but I've seen plenty of ways they could expand - adding additional quests such as Gawain & the Green Knight, or Arthur & The Giant, or Percival and the Red Knight, or Gareth's rescue of the Princess of Lyonesse from Sir Ironsides...

They could be set up to either be replacement quests or additions.

I know I want an expansion like that!

I already have friends who introduce Shadows as "the game with many boards" - not sure that the average household would have a big enough table to play on if they add too many more quests.

Also, the more quests you add, the harder it would be for only a few knights. Fun for the hardcore gamers, but more likely to deter newcomers.

Hello,

I'm not sure that the table necessities are an issue for a SoC gamer. After all if someone wants to play the game, they will manage.

I think new quests are welcome, but I am truly disappointed at Days of Wonder because they don't have an official position on this.

Anyway the game is great like this... but with a couple of extensions the game could probably become legendary.

well seeing the game is over 5 years old, the chances of another expansion seem to be dimming. Crying or Very Sad

It would be awesome, though. This is (in a very close race) my favorite Days of Wonder game, but I have played it out a bit. A new expansion to breathe some new life into it would be great!

I wish that there would be an expansion that would busy the traitor more and give him more of an active approach to shadows over camelot.
