I clearly dont understand the rules (based on reading this forum)

I was just reading the thread about turns and the Primus ship (I.E. Does it move or stay put) and I am lead to believe that I don't understand the printed rule (English and I'm a native speaker of said language).
So I writer here for clarification / correction. This summary is NOT an idea for new rules it's potentially a cry for clarification.
Here's my game play (forget round 1 we all know it's phase 3 only so let's assume we have all sent our ship our with bids to ports).
Note: we move the Primus ship at end of Phase 3
Phase 1: (Resolve).
- Everyone who is alone on a port takes their cargo and pays the bank.
- Most people grab their casino money (to use for counter bids).
- All contested ports are bid out in an open auction format ending ONLY once there is one person on a port. This could include multiple rounds of bidding. (No one is allowed to join a port bid unless they are already there at end of Phase 3)
- Black Market is resolved
The only thing that the primus effects is the black market to determine who can trade first
Phase 2: (Trade)
- We trade in our cargo.
- We can either CHOOSE To break pairs (Which seems broken as you can always get more in the short game breaking pairs to trade)
- We buy our Victory Point cards.
(This whole phase is done starting w/ Player 1 moving clockwise around the board.)
Phase 3: (Send out ships)
- The Primus token is moved to the next player.
- Starting at Player 1 moving clockwise around the table, they send out all their ships with all their bids.
Example of gameplay would be AWESOME.

Okay so I think the big mistake we've been doing is the following:
Instead of each player playing all 3 Phases on THEIR turn we're making all the players perform Phase 1, then ALL Players doing Phase 2.. and finally all Players doing Phase 3 (in turn based on who holds the Primus Ship).
Missed that little detail in the rules.
Still not sure it changes the Black Market issue of guaranteed 3-3-5x8 cargoes every turn.
But we shall see.
OH and all this aside we, as a family, love this game.

Hi i think you are a bit confused by the rules
The primus marker
This marker does not move around the table.
It is given to the person who has the first turn
It's only job, is to remind the 1st player that he needs to move the turn marker 1 step forward each time he plays his turn.
The game will end after each person has played the required number of turns
Players turns
Each player will complete all 3 phases during his turn
1 resolve all ships actions
2 exchange any goods for the cards
3 Place all ships back onto the board
Resolving the ships actions
If in a port by himself
Collect all of the goods from that port and pay all of the money you bid to the bank
If in a port were another player has bid higher than you
Add additional coins to your bid to ensure you are now the highest bidder, or
withdraw from the port and take your bid back onto your hand
If you are at the casino simply take 2 coins from the bank and add to your hand
For the black market
For each ship at the market receive 1 random goods token from the bag or
if there is a goods token on display that you need you can instead swap it for one that you already own
Remember goods tokens of the same type are much more valuable
Ie 6 cars is much more valuable than 6 different types of goods
I hope the above is helpful to your game
