Dietrich,
I am using your picture as our official logo for this tournament. You must be in graphic arts. Your pictures are really imaginative.

I am really flattered that you want to use this picture! Thanks.
When I was a young guy I studied commercial photography and design. But I don't practice a graphical profession anymore. That is why I like to be visual creative in this forum so much.
If you, or anyone else of this M44 family, needs a logo or something else for a tournament or so, feel free to ask!

Yes, I think the answer to the Mobile Arty and Anti Tank Inf are both ~ In The Cards ~...
Arty Bombard states no movement / fire combination - that one is pretty easy...
Description of Anti Tank Inf states that it cannot fire and move, but that it is treated as normal infantry in all other regards - BEL states that all movement restrictions are disregarded... If you consider the ~ No Move / Fire ~ rule to be a movement restriction, then it makes sense that AT Inf can be used w/ a BEL...

Llama: We are close - I *almost* had Artimon cornered - have another trap set for him tonight ( or today depending on what part of the world you are in... ).
Intel has it that he will be dining in a cafe~ ... With any luck I can catch him w/ his bride, in which case his retreat might be slowed just enough... Then again, he kind of seems like the kind of guy that would just ~ Leave Her For Dead ~ huh?...

I got him!
Sedated him with a baby aspirin laced truffle and knocked him out...
Unfortunately, he awoke with a pocket full of loaded dice, and a deck of cards up his sleeve...
Sorry team - I had no idea he was a sorcier apprenti...

Trentdep, Love your colorful repartee`. Beautifully worded!
Ok, round 1 is in the books. Allies lead 4-3.
The 2nd battle, which also took place in 1941, is now online. It is 'The Relief of Tobruk'. This historical battle was the British attempt to relieve the encirclement of Tobruk. One of the major objectives was the capture of Halfaya Pass. This scenario depicts the 2nd day of the battle. The Allies have already captured Fort Capuzzo and Sidi Omar. They now make their attempt to take the pass. The Germans on Hafid Ridge counterattack.
As I said, we are playing these scenarios in chronological order.
This will be the last scenario in 1941.
Also for the 2nd round, Droopy007 announces his 2pt. player and then Jeronimon sets the matchups.
Good luck Commanders(Allies only).

Eric, just played 'The Relief of Tobruk' and it is a great scenario.
Surprised that the Axis have such an edge in the results.
The notes say the Axis starts but the scenario has the Allies starting.

I also played it last night and was quite pleased with the strategical and tactical options about this map. That is, AFTER an overall armored haircut!
Quite balanced too, it seems. Good work, Eric!

Van Voort will be our 2 points champion this week
The line up will be:
Artimon v Clorofila
Jeronimon v Droopy
LooneyLlama v Jaykay2010 (2 points)
Lucky91 v Trentdep
van Voort (2 points) v Sdnative
Briefing
We have already captured Fort Capuzzo and Sidi Omar. So now all we have to do this week is go through Halfaya Pass to get to Tobruk. The first troops to get into Sollum will get scones for tea.
Beware though, we have reports of enemy troops on Hafid Ridge, so watch your back, gentlemen.
That will be all, and remember: "Be careful out there!"

Sir,
I don't like scones but after I break through the pass and relieve Tobruk, I will hold you to tea and crumpets.

My ten year old son noticed a funny thing when I was playing the scenario from the Axis side:
Hafid Ridge becomes Ridge Hafid
Escarpment Becomes Mentescarp
Halfaya Pass becomes Pass Halfaya
And Tobruk is situated on the other side of the map.
(At least the arrow points there)
I get that the texts are too long for one hex and thus the left right order changes, but I still thought it was funny too.

This happens when the author of the scenario splits labels up to put them in the label field of two separate hexes. If the author would just put the text in one label field, the problem would be solved. If the text is too long, it will spill over onto adjacent hexes even if you put all text in one label field. Just don't put long text in hexes on the board edge, ... then the text might spill over the side of the board and become truncated.

Yes. GMT + something is actually wrong. It should be UTC + something.
But that is just nitpicking. We'll use CET or CEST next time.

Yes, "Why use a standard system that everyone can understand with a minimum effort, if we can use a system which has a different acronym for each single timezone in the planet?..."

Exactly - keep it as simple as possible...
" I'm not sure what time zone I'm in - it got dark 30 mins ago..."
" OK - well it has been light here for a few hours - how about we meet when it's just getting light there, and dark here?..."

Geoff, I will make sure you are in the next tournament. I'm finalizing a series of 10 scenarios for both the Pacific Theater and Eastern Front. I've also started work on a Western Front series of scenarios. I'm just not sure if I should include my Normandy landing scenarios. There might be too many official and unofficial ones already.
Anyway, due to heavy Axis resistance, we can play 12 scenarios if you would like. I think I have 12 good ones that you would enjoy. We'll have a vote here. They would include 4 North Africa scenarios(we've played 2 so far), 3 Sicily scenarios, and 5 from mainland Italy.

Latest reply from Richard Borg was that AT gun cannot battle in any case after it moved that turn. Not even with BEL. So this is a bug in the online game.

You can still use the BEL with the antitank unit to move it 6 hexes to a better position. You just cannot battle with it while on the move with BEL.

You Axis may have won this battle (rather convincingly) but we have something you don't have:
We seem to control the battlefield(s).
So basically, as long as we, the Allies, are behind. Eric, you will stretch the tournament until we are ahead?
So if we keep performing like this week we can expect a scenario with about 10% chance for Axis to win.
I see Axis infantries trekking through hot desert sands surrounded by steep hills with shiny Allied armor on top. At last the Allies will be on the other end of the Charge of the Light Brigade (Alfred, Lord Tennyson 1809-1892)
