I was a bit surprised as well, but the Finnish ski troops turned out to be a formidable axis force.

And more of them are yet to come. Twisted Evil

However, I also saw a lot of the finish skiers perish and die horribly because of their generals sending them to certain deaths for some material or tactical gain. In none of my battles the fins did a lot of surviving. Embarassed Smile

Hello team, The two scenarios of which I will have to choose one will be up for some time. If you could advise me in my decision I would appreciate that.

My preference would be for The Last Hollow Victory, as I prefer defense to offense.

Hi guys,

Just for your information: I'll be abroad from saturday till the next saturday. Since it's not a holiday but a city trip with pupils, I fear I won't be able to get online to play M44.

Looking forward to another great scenario!

Greetings,

VCX

SAC Helcat,

Offense, defense, bench warmer..I just like to play!! But of the 2, think our chances, though less cards for ALLIES than in Festung Posen, would be better in "The Last Hollow Victory", we would at least start with 2 medals unlike in Festung where the AXIS start with 2! Laughing

The ART gives us coverage in 2 sections especially where the "fight" for the medals will take place, if only ours were mobile and thus some protection from the AXIS, though they have the FINNS on that flank, our troops are well entrenched and can provide resistance.

As for Festung, think the "trenches" would be a big issue for our Armored support and as in most of Eric's scenarios, objectives are not easy to get and keep and in TLHV, we would have that advantage and think our best showing was SN: Rattenkreig where we had a similar advantage.

In the CENTER and RIGHT, we have good support with Infantry and Armor and the forest and towns and hills to help in our fight though AXIS starts with 2 units in our midst in the CENTER, sneaky, sneaky, sneaky!!!

Both would be fun, but think better odds lay with TLHV for us over FP, though more in defensive mode for us, still plenty of opportunities to unleash an offensive and cause some damage given the routes the AXIS would have to travel enroute to Victory!!

My 2 cents, but probably came out to be more like 3 cents!! Otherwise, your judgment reigns supreme and we will follow your orders!!

I have been testing both against Jhonny and TLHV against Humans and Festung seems to be a slightly easier win, so I am leaning towards Festung, but your opinion is still welcome. And I will have to test Festung against Humans as well.

Oh, have only test TLHV online against Johnny, twice, one was 12-11 me and other I won, 12-something, the 12-11, Johnny had over 100 dice rolled to my 70 or so, I had the advantage on the other.

Not aware we could test on Festung, but would like to try, like I said, both would be fun win or lose!!

Like I said, we will march on your orders!!!

Well, bear in mind that Berlin we will be on offence and the Axis defensive.

May not want to play two like that back to back.

Though at the moment I'll go for whatever looks most likely to salvage our honour

Ok we will have to continue with the tournament. Given your arguments I will choose The Last Hollow Victory as the scenario to play.

Good Luck everyone.

Exulted Leader,

Hopefully it is the lesser of 2 evils if all goes well for us or perhaps we should have picked our Posen and lived with that! Laughing

Or perhaps, as Van the Man stated, to save our honour, talk Sam into playing both, TLHV and Festung Posen, after all, it is a long road to Berlin and our final destination!! Twisted Evil and would improve our chances at victory. Rolling Eyes

Less, we will just settle for claiming the last 2 battles of the War and giving the AXIS a taste of their own medicine.

Bring them on, let us remove the "Hollow" and let us not make this our last victory!!

The Last Hollow Victory is now back up. As soon as Sam lets me know where our unit willl be placed, I will change it to the Tournament Revision scenario.

Sam, please let Erik know who our 2 point player will be and then he can set the lineups.

Also, let me know what unit we will be using and where to place it.

Thanks.

Yes, assignment day and we have our marching orders, let's hope we were all paying attention during the tactics briefing!! Laughing

Have "practiced" several times against Dugrim, but believe this to be our 1st meeting during this front, hope it goes better than our practices!

Let's go ALLIES and let's make them sweat some.

First meeting? Oei, you are right. I thought we had all played each other allready, but that appears not to be the case. In that case I would like to make a small change in the draws:

Helcat - Vercingetorix1302
Jaykay2010 * - Sam1812
gheintze 2 pt - Jeronimon
lucky91 - Artimon
van Voort * - JJ Juggernaut
tank commander - clorofila
JAParker - Looney Llama
Gonzalan - Dugrim

So that everybody has played everybody before the final round.
Gheinze still is our 2 point player.

HI Eric,

If you right click on the field in The Last Hollow Victory, Tournament Revision the BLitz card comes up. But the Blitz rules are not in effect.

Would you please remove the card or install the Blitz rules? Smile

Jeroen,

Blitz rules are not in effect. Were you able to use recon 1 cards as Air Power? I do not have it checked off in the expert box. I do not know why it is there. I will repost the scenario. Everyone, do not use recon 1 cards for Air Power.

Hi Eric,

No indeed, the blitz rules are not in effect, you cannot blitz with recon and Allied armor moves three hexes.

But right clicking on the map shows the blitz-card for some reason.

(Did we not have this same occurrence for a scenario in your former SFTF tournament? Or was that the Northern Africa card turning up after right clicking, I can't remember exactly. All these wars are blending in to one another. Wink )

Just an update.

We are waiting for the final 2 battles this round and then we move on our final scenario, van Voort's Berlin.

As we finish up round 9 we can continue on to round 10. Erik, please let Sam know your 2 point player and then Sam can set the lineups. We can start this round right away since it is vanVoort's scenario and it is already online. Thanks.

What unit do I need to add?

(We don't know because I have not played JJ)

Re:Online Eastern Front Tournament Thu, 23 May 2013 01:04
Pairings for Round 10:

For this round, I sorted both sides according to won-lost records, and secondarily by medal differentials. In two cases, that would have meant a third meeting between two players, so I flipped those matchups to the adjacent players on the list.

Two Axis players have not won as 2-pointers yet: Dugrim and LooneyLlama. I figure that LooneyLlama has been a thousand-point winner, because he has had the joy of presiding over this tournament and so much fun for nearly 5 months. So our 2-point player will be Dugrim.

sam1812 vs gheintze
Artimon vs Tank Commander
clorofila vs Helcat
Dugrim (2 points) vs Jaykay2010
Jeronimon vs lucky91
JJs Juggernaut vs JAParker
LooneyLlama vs Gonzalan
Vercingetorix1302 vs van Voort (2 points)

Good luck to all, and let's have more fun.

Sam

I know it aint over yet, but I just played my last battle and would like to thank Eric for another great one!

I had a lot of fun and hope the Pacific can offer as much (no doubt really, the first match was already very nice)

Eric, Thank you!

Also my fellow German officer and worthy opponents deserve many thanks for the time and effort they put into this. Guys, thanks.

Only one small remark on something that could have gone better: the Allies kept trailing in the overall score. That should not have happened dudes! Very Happy

This is of course entirely due to our excellent leadership by Sam, who led us to victory perfectly! Thank you commander. Snappy salute.
