surely that was 2012 ?!

tournament started in 2012 before you released the overall points structure...

shouldnt the 2013 one be like a final where you can block the person going for the overall title too???

Edit: grats K!

Well...

You had an annoucement for the overall championship 10 days ago HERE.

Last year, we made the calendar clearer, to make sure each tourney had its place defined in advance.

This year, we were looking for consistency. So Fun and MPWC are now considered as the first tourneys of the year. After all, a soccer team championship starts in 2012 and finishes in 2013 to crown the 2013 champion...

So, FUN tournament and MPWC are in their 2013 edition, since their winner is crowned in 2013.
We also wanted a condensed championship season during the first half of the year.

Yes, those who signed up for the multi tourney this year have an advantadge, but nobody has known of that advantadge when signing up... (not even me, and the idea was drafted before we played the semis...).

And, well, those participants did not need an incentive to be part of that tourney and to make MPWC a living and competitive tournament. So they were kind of rewarded that way for this year.
But now, all the players know it and can sign up for other tourneys.

About finishing the Overall championship with blocks in multi tourneys : I'd then to disagree.

1) A final head-to-head on AAC fits better with the idea of the most complete player.

2) Colluding the interest of blocking to win one game in the multi-tourney + the blocking to win the MPWC itself/to get qualified in the next round + the blocking to win overall championship could create some unnecessary drama. (If some players not involved in any of those appear to decide the fate of one of them, that could be ugly).

Overall championship is meant to reward consistency !

Since GURU Will won't have any problem to win SPWC, EMC, SMC, AMC and AAC, there's nothing to be worried about !

Yes, Sysy, but it is possible, that more ttr players would have played the multi tournament, if the announcement of the overall championchip would have been made before the start of the multi event. Twisted Evil

Makes it a hell of a lot more difficult as I won't be going anywhere near EMC Wink

I'll just have to win everything else - hope I get drawn against TuS players in every round!

Yes,

but when we thought about overall reform, we preferred to have it from December to July.

Alternative would have been from March to February with large gaps inside.

It wasn't announced at the start of the multi because the idea came up later.
If you prefer, we can just skip it for this year (yes this is a joke).

Before the end of AAT, standings are :

1. Val 242 points
2. Truckerteller 240 points
3. womble 207 points
4. Angel6 200 points
5. Sysyphus 150 points (197 as a minimum after AAT- 225 max)
6. DrakeStorm 109 points (184 points max, will be 6th no matter what)

Grats to Val !!

Val was the only one scoring points in every tourney, rewarding his consistancy.
Truckerteller did not play multi tourney but did score in every tourney he participated to.
Angel did participate only to 2 tournaments, with 2 wins.

Not much surprise to see those 6 names at the top of the list.

We (Cromze and I) are trying to think over a new system for the overall championship 2014.
This is year was an experiment to revitalize that "championship",
Sorry for having decided on the format after multi tourney started. Truckerteller is exceptionally allowed to whine even if his multi-US skills are questionable, but his overall skills may have been enough to reach the semis in MPWC.

It may be interesting to include Fusion, NC in this count. After all, competition in Fusion and in NC is (at least)as fierce as in the SPWC. Maybe even more intense.
I dont know, maybe something like 5/7/10 points for a victory in a match.

Integrating League would be trickier. In NC and Fusion, you basically have the same odds to play whichever player. In League, skipping a season and start over at the bottom may help you obtain more points than someone who did well in Div. A.

Any contribution to improve this nice (and maybe underrated) feature is more than welcome. We just started discussing possible improvements with Cromze.

Official final results for 2013:

1. Val 242 points
2. Truckerteller 240 points
3. Sysyphus 212 points
4. womble 207 points
5. Angel6 200 points
6. DrakeStorm 184 points
7. chrismmm 125 points
8. Lexx 110 points
9. RMarkes 105 points
10. Knockando 102 points

We will have another Overall Championship in 2014 dedicated only to individual 2er tournaments. It will then include SPWC, EMC, SMC and AMC.
We will give more points to SPWC than EMC, and more to EMC than SMC and AMC.

We are still working on an alternative Ranking with Cromze that would include all the tournaments (multis, team tourneys, leagues and 2ers).
We are thinking of launching it as a "Race" for the first year , with points cumulating all through the year. After a year, players will keep the points they cumulated during the past year, adjusting them negatively or positively. It is quite like the ATP tennis system.
We have the willingness to include League to hopefully incitate more players to play them. Obviously, SPWC will keep the biggest reward of them all.

We would also like, just for fun, to allow clubs to register in the new ranking system.
Let's say 5/6/7 players are part of the same club and all their points in the new ranking add up. Just to create some more emulation between players, maybe more cheering in the lobby for those who think it's fun.
