Steam workshop support? Thu, 18 April 2013 21:50
Ever since buying Ticket to Ride on Steam a few weeks ago I've been hooked. So much in fact that I started looking into modding possibilities, as is already widely done for the board game with custom made boards.
I found it was relatively easy to create a new map for the digital game, so after some tinkering I came up with a map of Holland (my home country) to play with. It is now fully working! Here are some screenshots:

It's a small map for 2-3 players, much like the Swiss version, with the addition of Stations, like in TtR:Europe. After a dozen test plays I think its pretty well balanced now.

But wouldn't it be cool if such creations could be shared with others through the Steam workshop? That would also allow for play online against others. Plus, it would add the map as an additional one, instead of overwriting an existing one. Right now, I have this map installed instead of the standard US map, and I have to put back my backup of the US-folder if I want to play the original again.

Maybe someone from Days of Wonder could chip in about this. I would love to know if maybe Steam workshop support is being worked on, or else if it's possible to share a self made map with others? Would it be allowed if I just put the files (along with an install guide) up in a zipfile somewhere?

Right now I'm having a lot of fun with it myself, but it would be every better if I could share it with others ofcourse. Smile

That would be nice. Maybe something to consider while they start work on Small World 2.
