Everyone,

You may now schedule your matches for round 5. van Voort's reserve infantry unit has been placed. Good luck to all(especially the Allies).

Hi John,

It seems I have read your PM too late. Let's try again tomorrow (Friday). There's a Halloween evening for kids but I think we will back around 10:00 pm French Zone Time. Then, I will be free for our match.

Hoping to see you tomorrow,

I just wanted to give you all a heads up as to the next 2 upcoming scenarios. The first scenario will be the landing at Tarawa. It looks like it should favor the Allies but in trial runs of the final setup it ended up being a difficult battle for them. The second scenario is the Japanese night counterattack on Tarawa. The Allies must fight vigorously to keep the Japanese from the beach victory hexes. It will go down to the wire. They both should be exciting engagements. Stay tuned.

Jeroen,

Yes, it is that one with a few minor tweaks. When you see the set up it looks like an easy victory for the Allies, but it never plays that way. In fact, I have come to the conclusion that the Japanese have a slight edge. Of course, cards and dice are a great determining factor in the outcome.

OK Commanders!!

The outcome of the Pacific Theater is still in the balance. With the score tied 25-25, and only half way through the scenarios, it is much too early to tell what the outcome will be.

Our next scenario is Tarawa/Betio Island. Please do not go by the percentage(29%)you see online. I have made some tweaks to the scenario to give the Allies a slightly better chance to win. I still think the scenario slightly favors the Axis. Also, please note that the Axis needs 8 medals to win and the Allies 9.

I now need lineups(Geoff is it your turn?) and any use of reserve pool units from Gheintze and van Voort. Is anyone keeping track of what reserve units are left for both sides?

Anyway, the scenario is now up online.

Eric

I would think you could figure out what reserve units have been used by reviewing the two Pacific front threads.

JA, your right, I'm just a little lazy. I figure that the two commanders would know which units are left.

How many scenarios are left? It looks like we have five reserve units. If there are only five scenarios left, then we will place an artillery on the vacant beach hex on the back row in the center section.

The matchups for this round are as follows (it's getting difficult to pair everyone against someone they haven't played, but I'm trying... Very Happy)

JK2010 - JAParker
frostberg - dugrim
vaillants - JJsJuggernaut
droopy007 - tankcommander
artimon - gheintze
clorofila - looneyllama
vanvoort - jeronimon
lucky91 - sam1812
kellogs10 - gonzalan
Buidheo - Antoi

Good luck!

Geoff

Oh great and awesome leader, will Buidheo be playing Antoi then? Razz

And Gonzalan played Kellogs already. Cool
(If you want to fix exchange with either Artimon, Frostberg or Vaillants)

Gheintze and van Voort,

The reserve pool of units was limited to 6.

1 regular artillery
2 regular armor
3 special force inf. for Allies and regular inf. for Japanese.

What has been used so far? I think we may have used our arty.

van Voort, do you want to place any reserve units?

There are 5 scenarios left.

Re:Pacific Theater Tournament/Overlord Scenario Tue, 12 November 2013 05:07
I haven't been tracking the reserves contemporaneously, but reviewing this thread, I see:

Allied infantry in round 2
Allied armor in round 4
Allies artillery just requested for round 6

Axis infantry for round 3
Axis armor for round 4
Axis infantry for round 5

Re:Pacific Theater Tournament/Overlord Scenario Tue, 12 November 2013 06:40
Thus, it appears that the Allies have four units left in reserve and there are five scenarios left.

I would prefer not to use the artillery in that case and save the reserves for the final four scenarios.

Thanks,

Geoff

Boyd,

Has never been a set "play-by" date for these tournaments. If for some reason, you think there might be a delay, just let your commanding General, Van Voort know or just post the information on the thread as to availability and when you think you might be able to work in your match as Lucky91 did stating he would not be available until the 22nd.

All adults and we are rather responsible in trying to get the matches in when we can and within reason, if not and know what the delay is, will go to the next round and the previous scenario will be posted when the person might be available.

Boyd,

We are trying not to have a play-by date for this tournament. I know it may take longer but I want it to be as informal as possible. Schedule your match whenever you get the chance.

Well, as luck would have it, I ran into Antoi on line today and we played our scenario. Results in the results section.

Attention all,

'Tarawa, Japanese Counterattack' is now online. Do not start until van Voort and Gheintze have decided on their use of reserve units. This is a tough one for the Allies as written. Reserve units could play a huge part in determining the outcome. In the real battle, the Japanese made it all the way to the beach and only a determined counterattack and artillery saved the Allies from complete disaster. Proper sequential card play by the Japanese may be too tough to overcome. They will get to the beach in one section. Getting to 2 beach objectives will spell doom for the Allies. Good luck.

We have an artillery, an armour and an infantry left as reserve correct?

Allies have one armour and 2 infantry

And there are 3 scenarios to go
