van Voort v JAParker

8/30 v 4/??

Our infantry drove through the middle and destroyed the enemy anti tank guns. Our tanks crossing the river to engage the guns and finally destroying them with a barrage.

Weak counterattack was repulsed

Kellogs (axis) vs Sam1812 (allies). Axis victory 8 (31) - 5 (24).

Very close game. Better stats on infantry give me the victory.

Thank you sam1812.

A very close battle. I might have won, until a devastating Japanese Infantry Assault late in the game. http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=36 421674

Very well played by the kellog.

dugrim (al) 0-8 clorofila (ax)
35-52 dice, 43%-46% overal hit rate

Luca had the misfortune to face what I can call of a perfect hand throughout the entire match. Absolutely no chances for him; and that kills all the fun, as we all know... Sorry, mate: hope this will not repeat in this tournament Sad
Still, a tough map for the allies, even when cards and dice are more balanced.

Luca won the rematch, btw, with almost as unbalanced figures: 8-2. Axis definitively on the edge!

It can be done! After a nailbiter of a match where we both suffered from not having the cards we needed it came down to the last dice. Lucky for me they went my way and I am proud to report a victory for the Allies!

I won 6 to 7 (I stil feel that looks strange winning with less medals.)

MOst of the fight was in the middle section around the bridge. My frst card was an artillery but I had an artillery Bombard that enabled me to move the artillery to the Jungle hex between right and middle section. I was also fortunate to get two assaults in the middle and one on my left this all helped tremendously.
In the endgame Pierre did not have center cards where my units were weak. He then did medic a one fig infantry (Which I had my eye on for a medal) to full health and killed my unit standing next to it. But in the middle I had just a little more cards than Pierre and that saved me.

replay

pffffffff, pfffffffff, pfffffffff

The rematch was also fun to play and I managed to win that one also. 8 to 4

Before we played this game we played Kalatch for the league where Pierre beat me, so this was revenge! Mad

Thanks Pierre for the nice games in both tournaments. We did spend about two hours together on the playing field. And it was fun!

Indeed, a lot of fun and a very nice evening! The scenario is really good, required a lot of thinking, really fun to play!

And at the end, a nice victory for the Allies despite the bad luck that Jeroen had this evening with his dices Razz

Ambush at Gemas

Jaykay2010 (Axis) v Antoi (Allies)

Score: Jaykay2010 8 v 4 Antoi

Antoi was up against it from the start, my first card (Barrage) knocked out his arty on the Allied baseline ... (throwing 2 grenades tho!)

Slowly I built up the centre section .. then let fly with Infantry Assault followed by more centre cards and a Firefight.

With the Bridge surrounded by tanks, Antoi would find it difficult to approach with his exposed infantry ... I was happy to leave the bridge for now,

At 5-1, with the 2 point bridge almost secured, all i needed was one more medal, and then an advance down the centre ...

However, I had run out of centre cards!
(except for a priceless Counter Attack card i held) .. this would prove to be vital.

The Axis suffered some losses in each section, with a brave fightback from Antoi

With the score at 5-4, Antoi unknowingly olayed an All Out Assault in the centre, planting a unit on the bridge ... it was all I needed to press home, and the rest, as they say, is history ...

8-4 the final score.

Thanks Antoi, you are a worthy opponent !

JJs Juggernaut (Allies) 3 medals 18 fig vs lucky91 (Axis) 8 medals 19 figs.

a victory for Japonese .

A japonese rush in the center with good cards and good dice .

It was not the case for Josiah ( only 39% of success hits) .

In these conditions , it's very difficult for the Allies Smile

the replay : http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/fr/battle/?id=36 481376

thanks to Josiah for the game and to Eric for the scenario.

Once again..Boyd and I fought it out...once again after the smoke had settled and cleared...Boyd was victorious 8-4!!

A HarBARRAGE-inger of things to come...Boyd let fly with the 1st card played on my ART and luckily for me only hit on 1 of 4!

After that SHELLSHOCK of an opening...I decided to move back..an INF ASLT in the CENTER and withdrew back across the river the SWA units and settled in for a battle of position and to await the arrival of Boyd in full force.

From the opening salvo...opening hand...Boyd had an RIGHT ALL..then drew BEL and had a COUNTER in there as well and spent the 1st few moves positioning his RIGHT and I spent them move into position in the jungle along the river.

He played BEL...I AMBUSHED and we negated each other there...and he was now in position on his RIGHT and from that point on he started his attack on turn 17...COUNTERED my M/O, 19 the ALL card...21 a TFH, 1-5 active..23 a DFHQ, 25 a PROBE 2....27 a just drawn DFHQ....dust settled...he was up 5-3...my LEFT decimated and nothing really left in the CENTER to hold him off and end result an 8-4 victory.

Pretty much from when he started his attack....had the cards to try to fight him off...but in had the numbers as far as units go...5-3 and wore me down...I was drawing LEFT/RIGHT FLANK cards from when he started his attack and once he killed me there...story was written...couldn't get CENTER troops over enough and if I had...CENTER was open...

Well done by Boyd and another victory by the AXIS....falling a few medals short...but fun battles....I did win the rematch...8-5....Boyd made it closer than I wanted at the end...just had enough to pull it out.

Fear not Allies. Your C-in-C has pulled off a most unlikely victory in an amazing battle.

Droopy had all the cards -- assault middle, infantry assault, TFH, firefight -- but the Allies stood tall and retreated when necessary waiting for the right chance to attack as the Japanese moved forward.

Spending cards early to move the units on the right to the middle really paid off, especially the artillery. The key is to move back and hold your ground while waiting for the Japanese to advance. Once you are behind the river, they can only close assault one at a time.

The score was 6-5 medals, 31-26 figure, and 49% to 42% in dice. The replay is here: http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=36 546041

By my calculations the score for round 1 stands at 6-2 axis, with two matches left (helcat vs. artimon, and frostberg vs. tank commander). As someone once told me "Good luck and have fun!"

Well done CinC Geoff!!!

Another feather in the ALLIES cap, now for the last 2 to pull off the same feat and pull us even closer....

I tried that same thing against Buidheo, must not have been the EXACT key, but worked to a degree...had 2 key misses on 2 single shots against 2 separate units just before he moved forward on his right...both missed and with the extra die...eliminated one of my units and he then pushed forward and took that flank...a hit each and perhaps a different outcome...with one miss on his 2 die instead of 3....unit survives and then who knows...but still well done by Buidheo.

Well done again on your victory and no doubt hard fought against the likes of Droopy!!

Geoff,

Congratulations. Victory for the Allies must involve that right flank artillery. Getting it to the center/right ASAP is imperitive. If the Japanese wait too long to get the right cards to attack the center, you can set up your defense. Again, well done.

Thx Geoff!
It was indeed a great match to play!
I really thought, seeing my cards after a few turns that I would win. But Geoff defensive strategy cut me down quickly. Moreover,I had Barrage nearly the whole game and failed to use it.
Congrats Geoff! And thx for the excellent game Very Happy.
Good luck teammates for the last matches!

Hi Guys,

No news from Helcat after several proposals Sad . I wouldn't want to block the tournament only for our match for which I have now no hope to play it in next days.

So, Eric, if you want to move on the second match, that is not a problem for me.

Battle of Milne Bay, round #2:
Antoi (allies) 10-7 clorofila (axis)

Antoi 46 figures, 55% overall hit rate, 84 dice
clorofila 33 figures, 51% overall hit rate, 65 dice

Superior game for Antoi, in another very challenging and quite balanced scenario by Eric. Congratulations to my opponent and to the map maker!

Thanks for a great game clorofila, you are a worthy opponent to play!

I thought I would never win with your great start of the game (3-0 end turn 3)
Luckily I managed to stay in the game by shooting at the japanese infantery so they hadn't the extra die advantage anymore.

But I have to say, It could easily go the other way. 10-3 seems to be a big difference but it al happened in the last turn.

Another win for the Allies!

Lucky91 and I played a great set of games. In the match for the tournament, the Allies win 10-5. Luc started with a strong assault in the middle and it looked like he would take advantage, but in an amazing turn of events, the Allies eliminated three infantry units in 1 turn. In the end an armor attack on the landing units on the Allied right completed the victory.

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=36 769570

In the rematch, the Japanese won a close one that could have gone either way.

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=36 769875

Great games, Luc. The dice just went my way today.

Good luck to the rest of the allies!

van Voort 8 v 10 Tank Commander

Good start

Assault Centre + Close Assault

Central Landing force was mostly wiped out but did a lot of damage

Assault on the left killed his tanks but was stopped

Unable to get anything going on the right all game and BEL failed

Yes, I thought my forward forces would be rolled up in short order. I really do not know how I turned around te center battle and just in time as I lacked center cards for several turns.

After I lost my right tank I once again saw disaster loom but managed to barely hold things together there.

On my left I had little to hold back the mass of Japanse troops there other than they had little in the way of orders. I rolled a key flag on the tank there which retreated in the rice patty. Not a good spot for armor. I was patient and my last turn FIREFIGHT did the trick.

I was very glad to bring our side a much needed win.

The dice:

Total 90 to 88 in my favor
I shot 42-90 / 47% to Voort's 37-88 / 42%

vs Inf I was 42 - 88 /48% to Voort's 32-74 / 43%
vs Tank - 0-2 / 00% / to Voort's 5-14 / 36%

I would have liked to try my hand with the Japanese against my worthy opponent, but did not get the chance.

Unfortunatly I had all centre cards by the end, and nothing left there.

With one card on the right or the Infiltration coming off I could almost certainly have pulled it off

Kellogs and me got together for our match and it went well for me, Kellogs was struggling to get in the kills and my dice were about average.

The difference was definitely in the dice. Kellogs rolled 96 dice on infantry and got only 34 fig. (35%) I rolled 93 dice against inf and that got me 44 fig (47%)

It ended 7-10 in my favor so another Allied Victory.

The replay was also won by the Allies and also with 7-10 (Dicepercentages equal)

Thanks for playing it was fun.

Artimon and I have fought our match.

The dice were fairly even -- I rolled 81d and he rolled 76d. I shot 48% against infantry, while he shot 44% against infantry and 30% against armor.

Many of the cards he played were nice ones: Arty Bombard, Assault Right, Counter-Attack against my Assault Center, a big Close Assault, Move Out, and DHQ. But unfortunately the other cards in his hand were virtually useless: 3-4 Left flank cards at all times, with a lack of good targets. The battle took place mostly in the center, or within shooting range of the center, and I was loaded with Center cards. Artimon fought heroically, but he fought the entire battle with only 2-3 cards.

Allied victory on my 9th turn. sam1812 10 - Artimon 6.

Sam was simply the best yesterday night. I did all what I can but that was definitively not enough Confused

The last turn, I have also forgotten the temporary medal for the allied and attacked inconsiderately with an isolated infantry on opened field.... Rolling Eyes

Congratulations Sam. I hope to cross again your path soon Twisted Evil Very Happy

Sorry my team, I will try to do best the next time...

Medals: 5-10
Figures: 24-36

Well played by Parker. But I had best cards. So it was easy for me to overrun him. Run and attack!
