Thanks for the update Bart, as always. And thanks for including the "Scenarios from the Front" booklet in it.

Looking forward to playing them.

I'm having problems with the latest downloads - my background is purple and my side and compendium boards are bright green.

Tried uninstalling and going back to the previous version, but it hasn't worked.

I seem to recall someone mentioning a color problem when going to 10.7, but I didn't have it then.

Sorry, didn't expect to see a response so quickly after my post.

Instead, I got it after upgrading Vassal from 3.2.4 to 3.2.8 this past hour.

I'm not sure why updating vassal and memoir'44 module and extensions should be so difficult. I only hope I don't have to spend a couple hours on my buddy's computer updating his too.

Unfortunately, my buddy's computer version of I.E. doesn't seem to allow you to download a file more than once. He'll click Open instead of Save and it disappears. So once you download it, you better know where it went!

If someone has some instructions for easier update, please post. I'm thinking you just have to uninstall everything, and start fresh, like you never had it before?

From VASSAL 3.2.3 the program was buggy.

In the VASSAL Module Manager, go to menu:
Tools > Clear Tile Cache

New problem:
I saved the game with my latest opponent, but when we continued another day he said he couldn't see his cards, they were hidden. He had to discard and draw them back while I was off-screen. We played a bit, then we lost connection to the server. I saved and we came back, but he couldn't see his cards again when he sync'd.

I thought the program recognizes the players. Is it a problem with the latest version?

I played Baraque de Fraiture the other day with Winter Cards and drew a 2nd Camouflage without a shuffle. It turns out in the standard-size board there are 2 in the Vassal Winter Deck and short a Winter Forest.

We played an OL today, and afterwards I took a look at that Winter Deck and saw it was OK.

I saw there's a new release this December for M'44 module and extensions. I downloaded 10.8 release #4, but that didn't solve the problem. I then opened a BT and an OL scenario and those decks were OK, but not the standard map.

I have some other issues, but will check them again to see if they're still present with latest download.

Re:VASSAL Module 10.8 release 3 + extensions Sun, 05 January 2014 08:19
We just started the Operation Toenails campaign using Vassal. The build for the second scenario, Munda Track, is missing the Allied Temporary Medal for Bloody Hill, which should be on the bunker, even though the text is on the next hill.

I see it's now using red figures to represent Marines. That should help remind that Marine rules are in effect.

Someone asked me to check his scenario which uses Marines alongside BCF forces. The orange vs red is hard to distinguish. Perhaps we could have a green infantry unit with Marine badge to make them stand out, in the next build?

Before I got Equipment Pack figures, I would use the German cross (Rosette?) on a lone tank to represent a Tiger tank in face-to-face games. I'd like to see that as an option under units too.

Thanks.

You can e-mail me scenario errors. I then add them to my todo list for fixes.

Whenever the scenario says USMC or United States Marine Corps as nation. If Nations 4 is in effect or not.

The (Marine) badge is usually used to denote Special Forces (Troops 2) units. So I wouldn't do that unless Nations 4 and 5 are both in effect.

What is wrong with my Tiger unit symbol?

You can add any badge to any unit, the Units list is just shortcuts. You take the base unit figure that you want to use, and then cycle through the badges until you have the combination you want. You can find a list of all badges (and their order) under the Help menu.

Bart, you do a heckuva job keeping up with all this. You have done an immeasurable service to the Memoir '44 community in redesigning and updating the vassal software. Thanks again for all your help. Plus your a great guy to game against. Smile

1. Will do! I get confused who's doing what on Vassal and the Ladder after a few weeks or months.

2. I think I'll stick to green for base rules, red for marine nation rules. I've sometimes forgotten nations rules after a few turns (I missed 3 Battle Backs in one game). I was hesitant to download the latest Pacific update for fear they'd all been changed to red, but wanted any corrections. I don't suppose there's a button to cycle through colors, too? Maroon Marines maybe?

3. I saw there's two scenarios that use normal units and marine badges for an extra order. Battle of Bairoko, and Medeera Pocket.

4. I was never happy seeing DOW just putting 1 tank figure on the map and callling it a Tiger. Since the Rosette wasn't being used, I used it for Face-to-Face play to distinguish it from a normal tank reduced to 1. I need something like the big tank figure that says, watch out - bad-ass tank.

5. Great! I tried it out and cycled through the badges to find the ones I want to use! I'll pass it on to the guy creating the scenario.

You can modify the graphics in the vmod file. If you replace all the usmc_xxx.png and usmc-xxx.png images with copies of the us_xxx.png and us-xxx.png images then the red figures will be green for you. You'd have to do this again for each module update.

I chose Scarlet red as being one of the two colors of the USMC. I could change the color. But even if I did it wouldn't be any time soon as it's too much work for now.

I'll have to check them. I use the USMC badge if the USMC unit is Special Forces (Troops 2). Normal USMC = red, SF USMC = red + badge. Sometimes badges are used in scenarios with mixed troops to distinguish regular US from USMC.

Since I made a special white silhouetted armor figure for the Tiger tank (for all nations) I always thought this would be sufficient to distringuish it from a regular 1 figure armor.

As with the original badges implementation I try not to limit unit/badge combinations to allow for custom scenarios and situations. The units in the Units panel are just starting points and common types for quick setup.

I have uploaded VASSAL Module 10.8 release 5 to vassalengine.org. The only fix from r4 is the Winter Combat Cards bug. With the fix in the module all existing scenarios automatically have the correct number of Winter Combat Cards.
