Fauns vs. Igors Sun, 15 December 2013 07:24
I finished a game today (with the SW2 app) in which I took Hordes of Fauns against my opponent's Spirit Igors. I hadn't been sure how these two races would interact, and I couldn't find a clear answer in these forums, so I thought I would post my experience here.

My opponent had 10 Igors when my Fauns entered the board. I captured 4 of his Igors' regions, causing 4 tokens to go to the Igors' "corpse pile." He then received 4 tokens as a result of the Fauns' power. At the beginning of his next turn, the 4 Igors tokens in the corpse pile spawned 2 new Igors, giving him 12 total Igors.

A few turns later, something odd and unexpected happened. By that time, my Fauns had reached their limit of 20 tokens (18 Fauns plus 2 Hordes). My opponent used his Igors to capture 3 of my Fauns' regions, reducing their token count to 17. On my next turn, I captured 2 of his active regions and expected to get 2 new Fauns at the end of my turn. But I didn't receive any new Fauns!

In a way, I suppose this makes sense. The captured Fauns were sent to the Igors' corpse pile to be made into new Igors, and so are not available to be drawn "from the tray." However, this quirk isn't explained in the Igors' description and is not an obvious interpretation of the rules. Has anybody noticed a similar phenomenon with Igors versus other growing races, such as Skeletons or Pygmies?

If your Faun tokens were "tied up" in the Igor parts factory, that is a mistake in the program and you should be sure to report it (unless you're happy with this way of reporting).

The Igors do not prevent any unit from getting their tokens back.
