Increasing "bugginess" (new word) Sun, 22 December 2013 01:05
Hi,

In the last two days I continually had an issue where when I attack and it just hangs, if I exit and then return, it sometimes fixes it but twice it did not and I had to just return and forgo the attack in order for the game to continue. I am not a good enough player to forgo attacks like that. Smile Is this happening to anyone else? Should I report it to DOW, ie will they do anything?

I have also noticed that since the two "ghost games" have been around, the lobby will often say that there are 3 (or more) open games though there is no evidence of these games (including SFTF) and I am wondering if people are opening games that other players cannot find thereby further reducing the number of games available to be played.

Is there a solution to have DOW do something about either? I hear they are done the Small World 2 app....

Neither problem, unfortunately, is new. The solution that you have found for the first is the only one that I know of. As for the ghost games, the they have been around for a while too--just the scenarios which are ghosts have changed. As I understand it (someone else please correct me if I am wrong) DOW has to restart the server(s) to get rid of them, which obviously is somewhat of a hassle, to say nothing of a major inconvenience to whomever might be playing at the time. However, I trust that they will do so eventually (they always have in the past).

Thanks for that JAParker. I just thought that it was wierd in that I've played nearly 900 battles and never had it happen until two days in a row, which was why I thought it was new. I understand though that you say this happens to other people at other times and isn't new.

My problem with the ghost games too, was not just the games which are mildly annoying but not that serious, but my wondering if games that are opened (ie you select play without inviting an opponent) are showing up in the lobby given that it sometimes says there are more than 2 open games without showing any but the two ghost games, something else I have just started noticing.

Ah well, I will just grin and bear it then. Thanks again for the reply, I look forward to our tournament game and trying to stop you from winning the division as you did in season 9! Smile

Best,

Tyler

Tyler, did those two hangups happen in the same scenario? What scenario(s) did it happen in? And do you remember what you were doing on the turns when it hung up?

Hey Sam,

No, they were two different scenarios... Bloody Ridge and Hellfire Pass. Both times it was my last attack of the round (and that is what it wouldn't do, it wouldn't attack, when I restarted the game and forwent the attack, the game continued without hanging). Also had times when I had to restart and it did work when I attacked in those two days....
