What's your organisation system like? Sun, 25 May 2014 07:04
New Message:
What's your big system for organising your copy of Small World? I just got the game and I'm interested in finding out how you store your "Hordes-of" expansions!

Old Message:

So I did it.
I finally caved and bought the physical version, it's in the mail and I should get it soon!!

Here's the thing:
I love games where everything has it's own little place in the box that's pre-made for it. (see Lords of Waterdeep as one of my favourite examples)
Now, I know Days of Wonder make nothing half-heartedly and they're of the utmost quality, but what's the organisational schematic for the box like? Small World has many hundreds of tokens, do they each have a slot? How many bags are there for things?

Thanks guys.
Looking forward to unboxing it Very Happy

I store Small World in this:http://www.joann.com/artbin-deluxe-open-based-divided-c ore-lid/1492651.html

Somebody suggested using it on the BGG forums, best investment I've made for the game.

Hi,

I'm sorry but I can't open the link.
Are you sure it is correct?

Thanks.

I use a storage method almost identical to what the OP of this thread did: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/937697/the-ultimate-small-wo rld-storage-solution/page/1

I use big dice bags for shuffling the races and powers, so I keep those banners stored in their bags in the bottom. Otherwise I do pretty much the same arrangement, spreading a few things out. I do exactly the same thing he does for the races tokens themselves. The dividers are movable so you can actually change the layout a bit to suit your tastes.

He also has an Amazon link to the art bin too: http://www.amazon.com/ArtBin-6981AB-Satchel-1-Compartment-Tr anslucent/dp/B003W0RPNA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=136207219 7&sr=8-1&keywords=artbin+6981AB&tag=article-boar dgamegeek-20

I couldn't justify $30+ for a new storage box for a game that came in a box. I consolidated everything Small Workd into my Carcassonne Big Box and moved all of those pieces into a smaller box. Works fine at no additional cost.

I have one of the big boxes, so just a quick question, how do you organise your Small World pieces in the Big Box?? Do you clump groups of tokens together, or do you have a different system?

A few questions.

1) When you say you bought the physical version, do you just mean the base game or did you get any expansions with it?

2) Do you care about keeping the pieces in the Small World box?

I have a storage solution that I use that allows me to fit pretty much everything and still keep it all in the box. I just have a small plastic bead organizing box (found at a local hobby shop) that fits all the tokens, money, and protective tiles. The Race Tokens stay in the original organizer, and it all fits back in the box.

But if you're just getting the base game, you might not need anything. The DoW insert fits it all quick nicely!

I used the punch out board frames to make one large area and two smaller areas. Each race has their own small bag. Mountains, lost tribes/monsters, turn marker, and die in a bag. A bag for the respective special power tokens for each game. One section has all Small Workd and expansions, one section all Underground and the coins on top, the largest section for the boards, Realms, T&L, the racial and power banners, relics and places of power, and instructions.

It's not impressive looking like a fancy box but gets the job done.

Hey Ras:
I just got the base game, so all I really wanted to know was how the box is laid out. For now I'm absolutely going to use only the box, but I may need other ideas later.
As for all these other storage ideas, I'd love to hear them, so that's why I keep asking about them. The way other people store their games is fascinating to me.

Jabooty:
Thanks for the information, it doesn't sound pretty, but I have no doubt it works wonderfully.

Well, it arrived, and I unboxed it, and I'm very happy with the schematic. With that information no longer necessary, I'm going to change the title to ask what others' do for organisation of their game.

I use large matchboxes (with pictures of the races on them).
