[IF]
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
--Rudyard Kipling

OK, I was at a convention this past weekend, and met a guy that said that this year a British expansion will be released with two different tank figures, and anti-tank gun figures with desert scenarios. Don't quote me on this, but this guy said that he has talked to Richard about this. I just wanted to know if anybody else had heard anything specific?

Bombers??? Sounds like fun. I imagine they'll only be able to fly a few hexes (instead of 4) and do more damage. I look forward to those rules! I wonder what the German bomber will be...any ideas?

You just had to sneak that one in, didn't you!
Maybe you will like this, it is from a WWII game I played at a convention over the weekend.

Yep, those were my M-18 TD's coming down the road, and although two got toasted, the other two took out the tiger hiding in the woods. We were on a Tiger hunt!!!

4 June 1940
"I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.
At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of His Majesty's Government-every man of them. That is the will of Parliament and the nation.
The British Empire and the French Republic, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength.
Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail.
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."

This royal throne of Kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house
Against the envy of less happier lands;
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm,
this England

Is there a Duke of Lancaster in the house? John of Gaunt, your grandson hurled a piece of the precious stone at the French and almost permanently returned the favor for the Norman invasion.

Poor John of Gaunt, the man who would not be king, though his father and son were both kings, and to top it all off he couldn't live long enough to witness the release of a British expansion for M44. Curse that Richard II!

Good Day Everyone,
After the high cost of the Air Pack I would be happy with a lower cost expansion. If it be a British expansion then just the figures and new senarios. There are way to many tiles now to add more. Now lets not get carried away with extra things and rules or the game will devolve into an overly complicated mess such as other games in the past have. Also I wish they made a clear plastic map size honeycomb piece that you would place tiles in to make the battlemaps. This way they would be fixed in place while a game is played.
It's been a while since I have posted been revisiting old Avalon Hill Games and playing Tide of Iron.

Talking of Hollywood, and to whet our appetites still further, what good films are there out there featuring the British? I like Dunkirk, and there's Longest Day of course, but what others? I'm hoping for some good desert war suggestions...

Hey Roobarb, I just saw a WW2 documentary yesterday all about the desert battles of Africa. It talked a lot about the battles for Tobruk. The commentator said that the Germans couldn't get the British out of Tobruk for a while, and that it was a thorn in Hitler's Africa strategy. Then he sent Rommel, and when Tobruk fell, Hitler made Rommel field marshal. But along came Monty....
