You lucky dog!
I'm still waiting my order to be posted since Hedgerow Hell is still pending in Euro market...
Oh well, hopefully I get mine next week. It's actually funny coincidence that me and my friends started playing overlord scenarios month ago so this overlord expansion is very useful expansion for me.

My Med arrived today. Looks good.
Promptly played a round of Hellfire Pass with my son -- dynamite scenario! My first two PIAT rolls against tanks turned up stars. Axis won, 6-4, but if the Allies had gotten another turn, they would have played BEL for 3d against a 1-figure infantry and skittered out through an Exit Hex.
I'd post an AAR, but the new scenarios aren't up yet.

As a miniatures guy I can only say that the British Infantry figures are very poor. The helmet looks nothing like the flat tin hat it should. Too bad.
Great scenarios and a nice expansion, but the figures after the wait, yuk.

For what its worth, there were no PIATs in NA. They didn't appear until the Sicily campaign. But hey, its a game, right?

Now that its available, when will the scenarios be available for download on the Official Scenarios page (along with the new overlords)?

Unfortunately I'm not too impressed with the crusader tanks - they look too flat. It would have neen better if they were the same height as the panzers. Perhaps the packing tray dictated design?
|
On top of that they are WRONG. The Crusader only had 5 road wheels a side, not 6 as per the pictures shown on the website.

Unfortunately I'll have to agree. The infantry looks more like the " Afrika Korps" than their enemies of the 8th army (helmets), the Crusader tanks have the wrong number of wheels and the AT weapons don't look too hot either. I would have preferred these as " counters" rather than miniatures. Instead they might have made an Italian army consisting of miniatures rather than badges...WEll,.....Frankly I'm a bit disappointed. I'd expected better from DoW.

That's ok, the thing looks a whole lot more like a panzerschreck anyway. The thing has a blast shield about half way down the tube. The pictures of the PIAT that I've seen, have never shown a blast shield. Also the front end looks a whole lot more like a panzerschreck.

While indeed the picture looks a lot more like a panzerschreck, this would mean that it would have to have been a captured one which would've been difficult as those weapons are also from 1944 or thereabouts. At least I've never seen or heard about reports of them being used in the desert campaign....

yes it has extra wheels... no it is not a bazooka... yes the hats are a little small... But they only have 3 or 4 guys that work on this stuff. They are going to miss a few little things. We are 3 or 4 hundred guys that catch all this little stuff.
I am just glad it's in my hands....
thanks guys...

I picked up the Med. expansion and the Overlord and Hedge this weekend from my friendly local, and I don't have any complaints.
Although, if the figs aren't historically accurate, I guess it's time we start complaining about two-dimensional terrain tiles. I mean the rules state you can't fire from the other side of a hill, but come on, the hill barely comes up to the feet of my infantry unit.

once you have all the expansions you have plenty of extra tiles... stack some under your hills and Mountains to make them taller??? you can also use an unused token to prop up one side of a hill for the cliff effect...

I guess I'm not as picky about what the figures look like, because I'm not disappointed with the set, but I can see how they look different than the other sets so far. Maybe one of the reasons I don't mind so much is because I have a set of British 8th Army troops on the sideline getting painted for action!
This is the set of figures I chose and I'm planning to paint them similar to the way they are done on Plastic Soldier Review:

Naw, if you manipulate the game pieces too much, then the little plastic armies will just start asking existential questions about the cardboard world they're a part of, and the next thing you know they'll trudge off the board suffering from disillusionment.

Hello guys,
Now you can find here, http://www.daysofwonder.com/fr/mypage/222901/m44
some pictures of the painted figures from expansion "Mediterranean Theater".
Peinture give the figure more "Fun" and hide the small failing of concept of the figures.
What is important now, it's to have more fun in playing scenarios of the desert war with these figures !
Friendly,
Jdrommel.

Hello,
I can answer for him. We fight smoetimes together. The materials is from SKYTREX 1/200ème scale :
--------- http://www.skytrex.com/ -----------------
It's metal product, no painting of course. I have some, Tigers, Stug III, one Panther, and artillery 105mm Howitzer and german too.
The scale is a good one.
Best regards .

You know, silly as it may sound I think I'll double- or triple-stack hills in my next game, just for the visual impact.
Might make the board awkward, with tiles sliding everywhere. We'll see.
