A while back I was involved in a desert battle Flanking Manuever at Bir Hakeim in a FTF game. After several turns of moving armor to center and my Left Infantry forward, I decided to use one of my Italian Infantry to attack a 2-fig. British unit (actually they are FFI forces dressed in British costume) in their forward field bunker . Capturing it would give me a medal. The bunker was protected from direct assault by a minefield. Nevertheless, I had the card to do the trick. I played my BEL card moved into the minefield adjacent to the bunker and proceeded to toss my 3 dice.
But alas! "Whoa there partner!" said my opponent. "You can't do that!"
"Certainly I can" I said, "the minefields have no effect on my superior BEL Infantry unit. They will not detonate and since there is no restriction on battling while in a minefield, I am at my leisure to attack."
There was silence, deep measured breathing. The FUN was melting into the floor and a cloud of sadness descending on the game. My opponent didn't appreciate my cleverness and had argued that I couldnt fight. And so, I finally relented and gave in to keep the peace and the fun. My opponent let me retract my card and play another. I eventually won the game, but not the heart of my countryman.
Needless to say, I know I was in the right and wondered what you folks would have done. (Let the fireworks begin!)
