Vassal Module Update Tue, 22 July 2008 15:55
Hello all.

It has been a long time since I updated anyone on the progress of my VASSAL module. Thank you for your patience.

Despite it being very close to finished, I have not worked on it in recent times. Without going into too much detail, there have been some family matters that have not only started consuming my time but also increasing my amount of stress. At first I had no time to devote to it, and subsequently I had lost the desire to work on it. However, recently a few people started emailing me about it, and it has renewed my interest in finishing it. Actually, I could use the distraction.

Here's what's left to be done (it isn't much)

High Priority: To Do prior to initial release
=============================================
- Fix null image bug in War Councils
- Graphic design for CtA deployment cards

Outsourced to others (to include in a future release)
=====================================================
- Scenario creation
- Player manual (HTML

Low Priority: Can be done after initial release
===============================================
- Icons for toolbar
- Hand
- Community Cards
- Notes
- Inventory
- Retire
- Graphic design for hands / community cards
- Method for indicating how many victory banners are required for a scenario
- Reference card screens
- Splash/About Graphic

I believe ColtsFan is going to help me out with scenario creation. Is there a volunteer for the player manual?

I haven't really looked at the game is some time, what expansions have been released since the Scottish one?

Cheers

Is this an update to the Battlelore Module we all play now, or is it a totally different module?

It is a new module, revamping of the old one. Those who have played the old module will not find the play drastically different. The majority of the changes were/are being made to accomodate Epic and Reluctant Allies games.

Thanks again for taking your time to do this, Sultan Smile

Just a minor thing, but in the revamp, would it be possible to fix Agincourt? The Standard team shows several blue bowmen units, when they should be swords.

Obviously, this can be fixed in-game, but it would be nice have it correct Smile

Sig,

Basically any item like that (wrong pieces) can be easily fixed in this new version of Vassal.

Sultan :
Still believe there is an issue with Goblin Drummers being placed in other armies..likewise with the other type of drummers (Dwarf)

For what it's worth, I like this "mistake" - I had thought it intentional, in order to better replicate the historical result (though, aside from playing the HYW version, playing without medieval tactics, as the adventure suggests, is the best way to do this).

It would be interesting to try the mistake, for sure.

What does HYW mean? Smile

The Hundred Years' War expansion, ya noob Wink

There's an epic adventure portraying Agincourt included in that expansion. It uses the Longbow instead of common bow, and the results typically reflect the historical one.

(btw, very fun playing with you on vassal the other [last?] night - hope to do it again soon.)

How come everytime I try to play you online Todd, you don;t answer? Are you too busy padding your score against noobs? Or do I just scare you? Twisted Evil

Wink

Perhaps your post was entirely in jest, but I will answer with a serious face Wink :

Actually, I haven't been trolling the bl vassal module as often lately - too many pbem and tournament games of ancients going on I will let be my excuse Smile - and when I have been on, I log on and wait for a pm, but if the time lapses too long my wireless connection bumps me off and I'll appear still on, but won't receive the pm's (nor see any chat text, for that matter).

Regardless, I would love to play with you Brian - we almost did over a year ago in some vassal tournament, but after beating Bill's dwarves with a charmed red mounted unit, I couldn't hold up the dwarf side myself and out of the bracket I went Smile - I feel like I know you without hardly ever having realtime discussions Laughing

(as an aside, the odds of my attending GenCon this year are very promising. I know that's your neck of the woods - any chance I could run into you there?)

I'll try to pop on the BL module this evening (~8-10 MST).

I am trying to make this my first year. I have two other things pushing me to go - 1) my company golf outing is that weekend - which I despise and 2) the Colts are having an open house to the new stadium that Sunday.

Each individual thing isn't enough to warrant a trip to Indy with our busy schedules. But knocking out all 3 in one weekend is just too tempting!

The vassal thing was in jest of course. I am usually not up late but there was some time off and the fiancee out of town and I was tired of another solo session of Arkham. So I was trying to find some C&C opponents. I saw you pop up on BattleLore but I couldn't get your attention.

I thought, he constantly asks and the one time are paths cross he runs and hides!!! Very Happy

We'll get there someday!
