31. Who taught you TTR? I bought it because it won awards and my wife and I taught ourselves and many friends and family. However, I never played 2 player games until I played TTR online. Many players here have affected the way I play, I need to be more defensive still, but Monika, BigSlug, Shamo, and others helped me learn some of the tricks of the game. CoolJ and Tprail are the 2 players that taught me (without their knowledge), about blocking being part of the game.

When i was young i traveled 2000 kilometers only to get an autograph from my favourite band. But then they were gone away. Hotrrible trip.

I've been reading through the 30 questions thread and noticed that TTRs most popular opponent has not included his answers. This may be because he is unable to write (or speak for that matter), but I believe I have broken through the communication barrier. He spells out his answer letter by letter by playing routes, and I just write down the first letter of one of the cities on the route. It's tricky to work out which of the two cities to use sometimes, and when he draws a loco that means the letter is not available on the board so I have to guess. Takes a while, but hey, what are friends for? Here are the answers i could decipher:

Alleyooper: Now it was my turn to be emotional. I've been playing a five year old. How embarrassing! Arnold also complained bitterly (this took some time to communicate) that so many people had celebrated Shamogi's birthday but ignored his. For the record, it is 23 October.

Arnold: in the USA mostly, but Europe also.
11. What do you think is the highest score you have attained in Ticket to Ride?
Alleyooper: There was fairly long winded answer from my friend. If I have it correct, DOW is artificially keeping his score at around 800 so as to trick opponents into thinking he is quite dumb. I'm not sure how he thinks DOW is doing this, but apparently every time he is in a winning position they arrange for a human player to take over his place and then get the credit for the win. Conversely they sometimes arrange for human players in losing positions to leave a game and ask Arnold to step into the breach. Which he does (he is very kind hearted) and so my friend picks up the losses.
I don't think he quite understands the scoring system, but Arnold is adamant that his actually ranking should be closer to 1800.

Alleyooper: Arnold got very excited. He has had a date planned with Nebbie (I think that is Nebulousbot) for some months now, but one or other of them always seems to be at work.

31. Who Taught you the game?
Arnold: Mr DOW. He taught me a unique style that not many of the competitive humans try to copy. They always seem to start with big long plays that don't connect to a city on their card, which is very strange. Mr DOW taught me it is much better to start at one end of your route and quickly play lots of small connecting lines until you get to the end of your route, and then draw more tickets for EXTRA POINTS! Do you know, some humans when they have completed their ticket routes just try to end the game as quickly as possible. I think a list should be made up of their names and published so we all can avoid playing against those Minimalists who do not play in the spirit of the game. Why don't they just go and do 100metre sprints if they like games that finish fast? I bet they all take drugs too.

Arnold: All the so called "tops" owe their current ranking to playing me at some stage in their career. I could go on and on:

Sometimes my pupils play each other and then Alleyooper's true nasty character is revealed. Alleyooper took all the credit for his wins this week over Neo and Zimo, but who is the brains behind this Alleyooper - it is I, Arnold!

Arnold: Yes, I was playing a guy yesterday who said he was a guest, but he seemed to know an awful lot about the forum and he liked lizards apparently. He wanted me to tell everyone that the forum had been quite barren lately. Why would he say that do you think?
Alleyooper: beats me. There is a lot of weird stuff happening around the place. For instance, everyone keeps asking if I am Spudamon. But surely everyone knows pototoes can't play basketball? Express even asked me what time of day it was in Australia. I think she thought I was a mysterious character called Baron, but I have seen a picture of the Baron and my horns are much larger than his. The nicest person around the place is Dizz, you should play her sometime. She is particularly good at losing by being in front and then having opponents ticket fiend the one possible card that would change the result. I should know!

But it's ok I guess. Here in metrosexual Europe we measure things differently (well... maybe that's just me).
You know, I always had difficulties with my math teacher. I never understood math and as of today I still can't count without using my fingers. Seriously, if I didn't had 4 fingers on each hand I wouldn't even be able to count to 11!

I am not so keen on travelling any more. Both of my parents love traveling and also have worked abroad, so I have gotten my share. Nicest way to be abroad is to live by the people of that country (or with people who have been in that country longer time). That way I have been in Sweden, Norway, Danmark, US, Hungary, England, Canada, Estonia, Germany, Turkey and Sudan. Others have been holiday journeys for a week or two. One week trip to Paris was the worst. Being a tourist in a line waiting is really not for me. I am sure I would have liked it more if I had known people there and done other things than basic tourist stuff. Anyway I would like to go snowboarding to the Alps some day, so finally the answer to the question: Austria or Schwitzerland. I don't know yet which village is the best to go to get the good slopes.

I played some ranked games yesterday since a long time. The persons who want the first ranking place, don't worry: My webcard is out of time in about 20 days so the visit in the ranking list is not long. I might also drop earlier. It really takes practice to be good. I don't remember any more how to play good or even what tickets are in the game. Anu had a lot of bad luck when she lost me yesterday.
