Greetings to all TTR Players! Very Happy
My name is Davide and I live in Italy. This is the first time I write in the forum, but I read these pages for several months with great interest.
Since the first game I played, TTR has become a passion that I share with family and close friends...so thanks to those who created and produced the game and who keeps this community alive. Smile
I want to give my contribution: I recently invested my time in creating a unofficial TTR expansion that includes a new map (with tickets) and other very special features.
If you are interested and want to know all the details, visit http://www.wix.com/troubl5/ttr_sardinia
Have fun with my project! Surprised
Dear Greetings!

Davide

A huge welcome to the online community, Davide!! It's wonderful to have you here and sharing such an amazing project with all of us. Smile

I went to your web site and I am very, very impressed with the quality of your work! It looks amazing and you clearly put a lot of time into it. I don't have time right now to look over it completely, but I look forward to this afternoon after work when I can take my time and read all about the Sardinia rail system and look over the game a bit more!

Again, welcome and thank you for sharing! Cool

Rasmussen81,
thanks for Your reply and appreciation...I hope I deserve it!
Similar to what I wrote on BoardGameGeek, I think the multiculturalism, as well the game mechanics, is the greatness of TTR series. Each map tells something about the represented countries (without mentioning the fact that kids learn geography! Very Happy).
So...have a good tour on this island! Smile

Davide

Although I have gone to the site (and I'll take Ras word it is quality work and all..I trust him. With my life, that's a DIFFERENT matter <G>), I do believe DoW did have at one point a listing of the various unofficial maps that people have made. You might inquire with DoW via the contact us page if they can add the link to that page.

If they no longer do that, do let me know (i.e. reply back to this thread so I won't direct others to such page).

Sadly need to jam or I would reply with more information but did see this thread and wanted to reply back before I forgot.

Impressive work. I'm trying to create some maps for myself, so just a question: Which software did you use?

Hecki,Cromze,
I'm glad you like my work!
I desined map and tickets using Photoshop and I created the website on Wix. However, when I started working on this project the official TTR map contest was already closed for several months. Sad
Regardless of that, I'm very excited to receive messages and e-mails with enthusiastic opinions about TTR Sardinia! Surprised
Thanks to all!

I'm creating several maps for Germany, Italy and Spain comparing to the real life routes - but only on paper. I wish i could do a photoshop work like that. You should teach me some lessons. Smile It is really amazing.
How long did you take just for the map?

Hecki,
taking advantage of free time, I spent two months to create the gameboard, the cards and the website.
A tutorial is complex to explain, but the basics are these:

Step 1 > I found a relief map of Sardinia suitable for my project.
Step 2 > I applied some artistic filter on the relief map to create a pleasant hand-painted effect.
Step 3 > I created the score-frame using appropriate textures for railways (on the long sides) and docks (on the short sides) + some decoration (tunnel and shells on the corners).
Step 4 > I inserted a new level in my Photoshop project: the original railway map of Sardinia, manually sized to the relief map
Step 5 > I created:
- round marker for cities/countries
- colored car spaces (from officials TTR maps)
- railway, tunnel and ship symbols for the car space
and I added a new level for each one in the project
Step 6 > I placed cities and car spaces on the relief map in accord to the original railway map level and I added new routes to fill reasonably the gameboard, then I cancel the railway map level (no longer useful in the next steps)
Step 7 > I added landmarks to "give life" to the map
Step 8 > I created summaries and other decorations to complete the map
Step 9 > I worked hard to design all the cards (in a separate Photoshop project) in line with the visual style I adopted for the map
Step 10 > I tested TTR Sardinia to adjust new rules before the final release
"Easter Egg" step > I signed my project: my name is hidden in the map, togheter with the name of my girlfriend and the name of my best friend, as a loving tribute.

I hope I've given you a useful idea of how to realize your potential project...and thanks for your interest! Surprised
