Steam vs. Web Fri, 03 August 2012 00:53
Hey there,

I've been playing the board version of TTR for a while now and have decided I'd like to try my hand in the online community. That said, if I'm looking for a good competitive experience which version of TTR would you recommend, the steam version or the web one? Which version are tournaments and leagues generally held on? Are the two different versions integrated (i.e. could I play against a web-player throug my steam version?). Thanks in advance for any help!

The differences are only local to your machine/choice of client. The advantage of the Steam version is that you can play in high res and/or full screen mode, the UI is a lot richer, etc. The advantage of the Web version is that you can play it from your browser.

As long as you use the same Online account, you could even play on both depending on your need at any given time.

Both versions connect to the same servers, so you will be able to play against the same set of online opponents regardless. In other words, web, Steam PC, Mac and iPad players can all play in a same Online game together.

Hope this helps
