Hi all
Cold evenings are again back and so it's the time to play Multi again.
The tournament is already three years old.
Now it's time for the 4th edition, deadline for signing up is 23rd November 2012.
Here there are the rules, there are several updates after the suggestions we received last year.In bold the parts modified.
Qorlas
Rules
BRIEF
Tournament will be played during November, December, January and February.
There will be 3 phases in the tournament:
1st phase: starting groups of 6 or 7 players - 5 5ers and 10 4ers (6 players), 5 5ers and 8 4ers (7 players) for each player. Everyone that meets requirements set in the rules will be able to sign up for the 1st phase.
2nd phase: semifinals, 2 groups of 6 or 7 players - 5 5ers and 10 4ers (6 players), 5 5ers and 8 4ers (7 players) for each player
3rd phase: the finals - 3 5ers and 4 4ers for each player 5 best multiplayers there is. The finals will be played as a one single event!
Tournament system may face some slight changes, after we know exact number of players participating.
Tournament will be played by using USA map only.
Tournament will be played under modified basic rules, known from other tournaments like NC, FED and League.
Tournament director is Qorlas and other supporters that will be indicated.
Deadline for signing in is Friday 23rd November 2012. When signing in, please state also your preferred time of play from options - CET evening / USA evening / Any time.
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------
GENERAL RULES
1.) Nature of games
Games in the tournament will be 5 and 4 player multigames with USA map.
2.) Single players
Every player must play their own game by themselves. Teaming up between two or more players is forbidden.
It's of course allowed to chat with other players during the game, but is forbidden to give any advice to others.
If player X shouts and advices you to "draaaaaw!", it's not really an "advice", it's meant to be more like fun and therefore NOT against the rules. So you may still draw.
Instead if player A gives player B an advice to block player C, it's definitely against the rules.
3.) Blocking
Blocking is natural and essential part of the game. So it's NOT against the rules.
If player gets blocked by others even several times it doesn't necessarely mean that others have teamed up against him/her.
Blocking is really common during the last few rounds, so be aware.
4.) General behaving and netiquette
Tournament should be fun event for everybody, so please behave like people with good manners are expected and respect the basic netiquette.
It means that for example insulting other players and delaying game in purpose is both agaist the rules.
5.) Lost connection
If player loses connection during the game, he/she should try to get back as soon as possible.
Other players must delay the game for at least 5 minutes. If booted player doesn't come back, game must be cancelled and players have to arrange a re-match.
One move made by bot during being booted must be accepted, no matter how dump, unless all other players are willing to play a re-match.
6.) Actions against the rules
Any action against the rules must be reported to tournament directors. They make all the decisions according to knowledge they have, so if there is such cases, it helps if there is some proof or witnesses. All decisions made by tournament directors are final.
So TD = Tournament Director = Tournament Dictator
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------
TOURNAMENT SYSTEM
1.) Tournament system
The final tournament system being used, will be published after sign in -deadline. Then also starting groups, schedules and seeding will be published. Probably on Monday 21st November.
2.) Seeding
Seeding will be based on players combined ELO ranking (Multi+USA).
3.) Splitting in groups
Players will be splitted into starting groups by TD's.
There are two factors being used in the split - ELO ranking and preferred time of play.
4.) First phase

game 20 4er Aaa - Ccc - Eee - Fff
game 21 4er Bbb - Ddd - Eee - Fff
5.) Semifinals
Details about how players reach seimifinals will be posted at the start of tournament.
There will be 2 groups of 6 or 7 players similar to the starting groups in semifinals. Games played in the same way. If there are enough american based players also the semifinals will be splitted according to the time zone.
If there will be only 1 USA-time group, then the old rule of the last chance for final will be re-used. Decision to be taken at the start of tournament.
6.) The finals
The finals will be played as one single event in February 2012. The date may be changed if all the finalists agree some other date. 5 best multiplayers will play following games in the finals:
game 1 5er Aaa - Bbb - Ccc - Ddd - Eee
game 2 4er Aaa - Bbb - Ccc - Ddd
game 3 4er Aaa - Bbb - Ccc - Eee
game 4 4er Aaa - Bbb - Ddd - Eee
game 5 4er Aaa - Ccc - Ddd - Eee
game 6 4er Bbb - Ccc - Ddd - Eee
game 7 5er Aaa - Bbb - Ccc - Ddd - Eee
game 8 5er Aaa - Bbb - Ccc - Ddd - Eee
So each finalists will play 3 5ers and 4 4ers. The player that collects more points will be The Multiplayer Champion.
7.) Points counting
In 5ers 9 - 5 - 3 - 1 - 0
In 4ers 7 - 4 - 2 - 0
If two or more players tie placement in game. They split the points. Example:
Game: Aaa - Bbb - Ccc - Ddd
Scores: 125 - 125 - 109 - 83
Points: 5,5 - 5,5 - 2 - 0
Both players Aaa and Bbb will be winners and gain also one win in their record.
8.) Group table placements
If two or more players have same amount of points in the final group table.
a) player with more wins in total will be ranked higher.
b) player with more wins in 5ers will be ranked higher.
c) player with lower seeding will be ranked higher.
9.) How to schedule games
In scheduling evenings: people has to give their ok explicitly with a post in the forum telling that they will play in the evening for which they agreed to play. No PMs to TDs only forum posts count as "OKs";
If someone doesn't show up for games for which he agreed before: games are played with bot.
If a player cannot play a scheduled evening: he can post his "not possibility"; in the forum until 4 hours before the scheduled time. In that case his games will be played another time
If players don't put a post in the forum and they do not show up
games has to be delayed
BUT
at the end of the phase missing games will be scheduled by TD
and their availibilities will be the ones less considered
Games played with the bot cannot be recovered at all. In the first part of the phases there should be at least 3 human players in all games.
*Delayed Games:
if a player arrives in delay for a evening and his game has been already played. The game has to be recovered immediately if he has less than 1 hour of delay, otherwise game can be recovered only if all the other players agree, but the game has to be played the same evening. In case of a missing player for a scheduled evening: games not involving the missing players have to be played first. Bot games can be played only if all-human matches are no longer possible
1st and 2nd phase will have one deadline. After the deadline TDs will try to set dates and times of play for each of the remaining games in the following week (extension for remaining games is one week).
The TD will ask for all the players to give 3 possible time slots for their games of at least "40 minutes x each game missing";. He will choose the scheduled time for the game according to the info he has.
*In the first phase "no show" gets 0 point, bot placement doesn't count.
If a player has unplayed games and he/she doesn't show up in the event that TD's have set (final deadline) then "no show" gets -1 points. Other players finish their remaining games and "no show" are being replaced by bot, whose placement will not count.
*Bot placement counts only for the points given to other players. If the bot wins he will steal points from the other players but will not give points to "his player".
10.) Games ruled off
Games not played in any form after the final deadlines will be ruled by the TDs.
11.) Games open/closed
In the first round and in the semifinal games can be closed if the player with highest ranking involved wished so. In the finals games have to be open.
12.) Starting
Starting is random in every game of the tournament. So it doesn't make any difference who opens the games.
13.) Scheduling
Players are encouraged to contact each other to arrange evenings where they will play the possible games until the first deadline of the phases. In the period after the deadline the TDs will help the players in arranging the remaining games.
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------
TIMETABLE
Timetable may be changed by TDs.
23rd November: Deadline for signing in
24th November: Tournament system, tables, schedules being published
24th November: Start of 1st phase
14th December: 1st phase deadline
23th December: 1st phase final deadline
28th December: Start of 2nd phase
20th January: 2nd phase deadline
27th January: 2nd phase final deadline
7th February: The finals deadline (single event)
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------
SIGNING IN
Players with combined ELO ranking (Multi+USA) over 3000 and with more than 1000 overall games played may join the tournament.
Other players can join the tournament only after TD explicit agreement to be asked in this thread.
TD's may decline players whose reputation is not good enough, if they feel player may cause some problems during the tournament.
(Examples: they gave troubles to TD of previous tournaments, or they were hard to offer schedule in previous Multi competitions)
When signing in, please state also your preferred time of play from options - CET evening / USA evening / Any time. If possible choose Any time, because then TD's don't have to put any player in USA evening group against their will, hopefully.

Scheduling is very easy with most of players...and very hard with 1 or 2 of them
If you are in a group wich all players post their avaibilities, it's very easy. If only one player never post, and just show up sometimes, it can be...very hard , yes .
But most of times it goes well
