Is there any practical difference between an "expert," or "honor" or "specialist" badge? For that matter, is there any significance at all to these badges?

Hmmm...that's an interesting question. I would say there's just as much significance to these badges as there is in any computer game you play, and more than some. At least these badges are fun (and easy) to show off for others to see, and they demonstrate that you've played certain battles and done certain things. Smile

But 'significance'? It probably depends on who you talk to! Rolling Eyes

Thanks for updating the list, Turboheizer. Interesting breakdown of the numbers!

So REAL value may be hard to find, but I appreciate the ones that I worked for more than the ones I gained for being "lucky".

Someof mine that I value most are those that were awarded unexpectedly such as the "Major Howard" and (as Stevens wrote) those I deliberately played for.

If there is a consistent theme here, it is that DOW players need to get out and play a bit more!

Turbo : Unlike all ( ? ) other players' signature, hovering over yours does not activate a pop up naming the particular ribbon.

Could you define the unusual ones that are on the bottom ( separated ) row?

That is because I don't use the M44O engine but a link to a jpg uploaded to photobucket. Many players did this before DoW added an own ribbon bar, and I kept it because I can display a different bar with german medals that way.

These are ribbons for german medals of WW2. As the Wehrmacht did not use ribbon bars for it's principal medals, I used the post-war "de-nazificated" version introduced for WW2 veterans of the Bundeswehr in 1957.

So far, there are from left to right:
Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse (EK II)
Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse (EK I)
Deutsches Kreuz in Gold
Ritterkreuz
Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub
Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern
Medaille "Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42"

Fantastic, and thank you sir.

( Even w/ my minimal Deutsche skills, pretty easy to translate most of them )

Although my maternal - as well as my ( ex ) wife's paternal grandfather were decorated pilots - both for the Luftwaffe, and both killed in action, I had no idea that there were versions of awards authorized that would - at least in theory, allow veterans to display their awards without rubbing in the whole Nazi thing.

I wonder if Soviet controlled veterans were given the same opportunity? I know many were repatriated to East Germany - anyone know if they were included in a general way, specifically, not at all?
