Nonsense indeed!! Besides, I sort of called dibs on being last!!
Not really, but a team is not complete with out that last player, 1st or last, otherwise, it would be 5 VS 4!! Case in point, the MED Tourney, once SDNative had to drop out, if there had been no sub or in my case, I was last picked, sort of, and managed to do OK.
Not fair for any team at those odds, but it doesn't matter how you are chosen, key being that you are the CHOSEN one!! BG Jeronimon spoke highly of you and just one battle were you just happened to be on the wrong end, you saved the ALLIED bacon more than once and he said as much!!
And if memory serves me well, much to my detriment, I recall a certain whipping in Season 6 from you!! Didn't have the pleasure in the MED Tourney to face you, but in the Eastern, will be happy to be on your side in hopes of avoiding a similar fate!!

Hi Guys,
Helcat and Sam are going to pick the teams and what side they will play.
I had planned on playing 10 scenarios though I have more if you want. They will be played in chronological order so I would need to know if we are playing more scenarios before we start.
As soon as Helcat and Sam have chosen the sides and teams we can begin.
ATTENTION Helcat and Sam: Helcat gets to pick matchups first. Therefore Sam will let him know who his two point player will be, Helcat makes the matchups, and then we battle.
The first scenario will be Viipuri, a Russian-Finnish battle of 1939.

Gute Morgen liebe Freunde,
Es wird mich nicht überraschen wenn wir ein Totalsieg realisieren können unter der Leitung eines inspirierenden Kommandant als Sam1812.
Vorwärts!
@LooneyLlama
Based on my experience in the former two tournaments I would not place a time limit on the rounds. I feel we have the same kind of motivation in this group as we had in the other two. Normally these kind of players WILL make/find the time to battle against each other. And if not, I feel team spirit will come into it also. (As in: "wake up you lazy %&$@#* everybody is waiting on you two." But as stated I feel that that will not be necessary)
I trust everybody in this group to do their best to get together, and if that is difficult (because of time or real life restraints) I am perfectly willing to be patient.
So Kommanders!
Who am I going to play this week!

Ja, einen guten Morgen, Freunde und Feinde gleichermaßen!
Kommandeure sind vorhanden, Mannschaften gewählt worden und jetzt werden die Schlachten geschlagen werden!
Viel Glück und möge das beste Team gewinnen!
Hopefully not much lost in translation, if so, blame Bing!
Looney,
As Jeronimon stated, no rush, in looking back at the Med Front it was played in about 4 months, 10 scenarios, 2 1/2 scenarios a month, a little more than one every 2 weeks, seems reasonable given the time differences involved and that was with 5 per team.
Besides, Rome wasn't built in a day! Does anyone know how long it did take to build Rome? Are we talking the city proper or the Empire itself? Hmmmm....
@Jeronimon,
Weren't you the one who taught me patience? You will get your wish soon enough and shortly after Christmas no less!

Eric--
As I did not have the opportunity to participate in the Mediterranean SFTF tournament, I have a couple of procedural questions:
1. Is it OK to play the scenario in advance of the tournament for practice (whether against Johnny/Hermann or another live person)?
2. Once the matches for the first round are set, how do I communicate with my assigned opponent? By means of DOW private messages?
Thanks for helping out a newbie!

Ai, first blow to the Allies. Your commissar had been drinking too much wodka, I presume; and got beaten by a Gaelic General.
I started a bit too opportunistic and at turn 5, I was 2-0 down and started to force my way through the centre. Not the best strategy in this scenario. Vercingetorix got up to 5-2. I needed to recuperate and rethink my strategy. I managed to take Viipurii but my assault for Vartsila got me in bigger trouble then I wanted. With a nice snipershot Vercingetorix took the game at 7-5.
Tips for the rest of the team. Don't overplay your hand and use subtle manouvering to win this scenario. Good Luck.

A valiant effort after your 2-0 and good show of leadership, pressed the action early and reward wasn't there, V1302 had good cards and with his movement options and use of cover...but sound advice. Just a better roll here and there..you had it set up in the event of his miss with BARRAGE, but a good battle nonetheless and will be interesting and perhaps with a Geoff victory and 2 pts, will offset the 1 loss.
Well done SAC and thanks for leading by example!!

Yes, congrats to S1812 and Artimon on their victories, close battles both that could have gone either way, 3-0 AXIS as of now.
Have my match set for 1-6-12 against Jeronimon at 7am/3pm, will try to change the ALLIES fortunes and get victory and the a point for the good guys!
Still plenty of fights out there in which to get back at the AXIS and show them we mean business!

4-0 AXIS, keep fighting. win the rest, then it will be 5-4 ALLIES!!

Let's celebrate our upcoming victory with some history and some Finnish propaganda:
The invasion of Finland is of course one of the tragedies of WWII
On 30 november Russia, population 182 million, attacks Finland with it's population of less than 4 million. Despite these odds, the Finns, using ski troops to perfection, manage to give the Russians a run for their money until they finally capitulate three month later, on March 11 1940.
Finnish Ski troops all dressed in white blended in perfectly with the winter snow, and seemed to dart out of nowhere, stabbing quickly at Russian formations and cutting them in two. Then surrounding and killing the remnants of the Soviet forces.
Not just Simo Hayha but all these white-clad gentlemen were known as Bielaja Smert (White Death)
This classic postcard produced by the Kuvahankinta Co. in Helsinki is one of the few propaganda postcards made during the brief struggle:

A gleefull satan has lassoed Russian dictator JosephStalin and foreign minister Vyacheslav Molotov (Yes, from the cocktail.) and is leading them straight to hell. The caption reads:"Ha Ha, At last I get what"s mine."
Both tyrants were accused of unspeakable acts against humanity during their long tenures in power, so the Finnish propagandists anticipated their final reward years before their deaths. Hatred for Russia ran so strong that shortly after Germany attacked Russia on June 22, 1941, Finland joined the Axis powers.
