General stevens Rules Quiz No.5 Fri, 08 February 2013 14:26
What terrain is so dangerous that just moving into it can end the game?

Please be specific when describing your situation. I will only accept a full and clear answer (of which there are several possibilities). Remember, we are educating folks not just being wise guys. Teaching to fish not just handing someone a fish.

Suppose we are in late game, the score is 5-5 and 6 medals are needed to win. The player who is taking his turn moves one of his units on a hex containing a minefield. The Minefield flips, and the corresponding number of dice are rolled. The phasing player is unlucky and loses his whole unit, granting the final medal for the opposing player.

EDIT: Same situation with frozen rivers, only that the moved unit must contain at most 2 figures.

Good show old chap.

Yes, MINEFIELDS and FROZEN RIVERS are territory to be entered into with great care, especially if the game is close.

Give that man a medal!

And (I know, it's not exactly moving into, but in fact crossing):
an exit hex.

Anyway, thank you Stevens, for all the fun I already had, reading and thinking about your quiz.

I have actually won a game this way more than once by inexperienced players and felt that I could do a bit to remedy that situation by just pointing it out in advance.
