I've been playing around with some tweaks for the hell of it and finding it quite fun. Is there an archive or list anywhere or peoples house rules and/or mods?


I think the beauty of M44 is that its such a kids sandbox, very similar to every boys "plastic soldiers on the table" game that most of us probably played with a few dice and rules. I enjoy the game as it is, but I dont see why I should have to choose either/or, as Im also quite happy to incorporate some tweaks and ideas for the hell of it.


some that I like:

degrading command
any single section order card can be used in another section, removing 1 unit ordered per section move (e.g. 3 left can be 2 centre or 1 right as well as 3 left)

varied squad sizes
especially in home made scenarios where you start with the same number of troops and tanks and set up in secret with a dividing screen. Allow infantry to be between 2 - 4 rather than default all to 3.

anti tank
I'm such a fan of e.g the STUGs I added an AT type tank vehicle that works like a tank vs tanks but not infantry


in general, I like the idea of differentiation, and this is a great thing about the official expansions and different ways to play, but for example with the germans I think a huge part of their success in small arms combat was having those nests of MG42, so I've been thinking about a machine gun unit that can only move 1 OR fire but has a tank like 3/3/3 type attack, perhaps limited to an indicated direction of fire.



anyway, I'm just interested to hear what other people come up with, or can think of. Like I said, just small easy tweaks or "flavour mods" that can be mixed and matched as desired.

If I recall correctly Machine Guns are already part of the rules, as are Mortars.

Not sure what pack they are in though

Mortars are introduced in CB1 (and the models in Equipment pack)
Machine guns are introduced in winterwars I think.

but if you look in the rules for the equipment pack you find them all there Smile

most important is to have fun Lambolt.
