Shared expansions, and timeout Fri, 13 September 2013 16:08
Two question re the new app:

1) I thought that if you had an expansion, other people could play it with you. I bought one of the expacs, and yet when I am in an online game, it often does not appear as playable in that game. At the same time, I have played in a game where I could use races from an xpac I had not bought. How does this work?

2) Is there a timeout feature? In ongoing games, there is a timer above the game name in the menu. What does that do? What happens if someone simply doesn't play their next turn and leaves it at that (without withdrawing). Do they eventually get auto-withdrawn?

The person who starts the game determines which expansion is played with. If you have one and "turn it on" by clicking on it so that it lights up, that expansion will be in the mix. This does not mean the races and powers from the expansion are near the top, so you might not see any of them in the game since it's a random selection.

So, if you just click on instant game, you will not be able to play with your own expansions?

You will be able to...but you need to select which expansions to play with by going into the "slower rabbit" screen and clicking on the expansions you have available.

And yes, when starting a game you can select from several different time-out options. I keep mine set on 2 days. If the hours expire and no turn is taken the game is deleted automatically. If you want to know how many hours are left you can go to the "Games In Progress" screen; selecting on the game in the "Games List" will reveal the time left until expiry, on the right.
