TTR vs. Java Thu, 28 November 2013 03:05
Been playing TTR on my desktop for years....haven't had a problem in years.

Now when I try to PLAY it insists I need the latest version of Java....so I load the latest version of Java...Java confirms latest version is loaded...but when I try to play TTR I am bounced right back to Java sight insisting I need the latest version.

Does anyone have any wisdom for me?

Not wisdom, but i do have the same problem, but it seems only with Internet Explorer. With Google Chrome it seems to work, although i have to confirm before every startup that i trust this blablabla and it warns me that in a future release it will block it too.
No idea why this sudden change?!?

Thanks, old bean! I switched to using my Firefox browser and (after bypassing the same warnings you mentioned) am back on track! Would be interesting to know, though, what happened and why!

We'll just go with Internet Explorer is great for downloading a better browser, and nothing else. ^_^

Well, it's finally happened.

Java forced me to update today; it shut off my ability to run Java at all until I acquiesced. (Using Firefox, by the way, so not an IE issue.) And now it's blocking TTR as an "untrusted application" without giving me the option to override. The warning's been there for a couple of months that Java would soon be blocking unsigned applications - they finally made good on that threat.

I can't play anymore because Days of Wonder won't sign their application.

Got around it by lowering Java security level to medium...don't know if that is a really bad idea or not!

That worked, Canadian, thank you. I'm going to have to file that one away - there are vital programs at my workplace that run on Java, and their signatures are frelled up, too. Which means that the next time our software updates, I'm going to get to swoop in and be the hero who knows how to fix it.
