Scenarios from the Front Volume 2 is now available! Fri, 27 December 2013 18:06
Hello again fellow Memoir44 enthusiasts!

http://i43.tinypic.com/146534.jpg
SftF Vol II

Due to the great response that we had from our first booklet, Almilcar (Jaime) and I decided to publish a second volume. Jaime's expertise in taking these scenarios and putting them into a very professional and pleasing to the eye booklet is very much appreciated by me. I hope you enjoy his handicraft.

These scenarios that I have written are not mainstream. They are mostly for those who have access to many of the expansions. However, this game, or these scenarios, are not that complicated so anyone who has access to the PDF files on Days of Wonder can enjoy them. What I have done is to use special rules to enhance game play. These rules do not affect what you know about the game in any way. For example, Autumn Mist has the Germans taking the first 4 turns and there is also a time frame for Allied reinforcements. In Task Force Baum, German units are hidden off board and their reinforcements can appear anywhere. Since all of these scenarios are based on real events, I tried to use special rules like these to get the "feel" of the battle. I hope they work out to your satisfaction. Do not be daunted by the long list in the special rules section. Most of them are well known to you. I wanted to include all rules In the description that are not in the basic game.

Finally, as an added bonus, Jaime and I are pleased to announce that jdrommel has allowed us to publish one of his scenarios in our booklet. Thank you Jacques.

We hope you enjoy Booklet II.

I just wanted to publically thank Jaime for working extremely hard to publish this booklet. He has again done wonders to make this booklet something the Memoir 44 community would enjoy. His art work has made it very collectable, and I am proud to have my scenarios published by him. I hope you enjoy them.

Also, if there are any questions about any of the scenarios please feel free to get in touch with me for any clarification. I tried to anticipate any problems with understanding the scenarios by an extensive description.

I also want to reiterate what I wrote on the final page of the booklet. We will be having a quarterly publication with scenarios from various writers. If you have a scenario that you would like published, please send it to me for review. I will have it playtested thoroughly and a decision will be made as to its use in the next booklet. PLease, please, playtest it over and over, before sending it to me. It must be in the finished state as I will not go back and forth with you to help finalize it. At this time, criteria for scenario writing awards are in discussion. I hope I get a lot of responses. Thanks.

Great booklet!

Strange enough the scenario title don't show the letter"A" (android tablet nexus 7). For example page 12, the title says UTUMN MIST, instead of Autumn mist.

The date-year of this scenario reads 1943, I believe it should be 44?

Nice work, I hopoe to play test this scenario soon

By the way, folks, LooneyLlama is one of my favorite scenario composers. I've played a bunch of his scenarios. Interesting battles, and sometimes novel twists on the rules. Plus, several of these use figures from the Equipment Pack, and we certainly could use more of those!

Definitely download this!

The file named "w/cutting marks" includes a safety margin for printing purposes while the first one is ideal for device browsing using a PDF reader.

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know that there is an error in one of the scenarios. In Patton's Folly the Allies move first not the Axis. I strive to keep the errors down as much as possible as I know they can be frustrating. If any one else has any questions about any of the scenarios please post here so others can be made aware of them. Thanks.

Should scenario 5 "Viipurii" be 1940 rather than 1943?

The fifth scenario could also be improved by:

*Changing the name: The city is named Viipuri in Finnish, but the international version is Vyborg.

*The Axis player is not Germany

*Furthermore, neither side is not clearly Axis/Allies (Russians were working together with the Germans at the time etc.)

Zalamence,

What's wrong with using Viipuri for the battle title? Does it matter whether it is a Finnish name or an international name?

You're right, we did miss the "Axis" designation as Finland. I apologize.

I do realize that the Russians were working in conjunction with Germany in 1939. However, there is no way in the online version to designate the Finns as Allies. I'm not sure they were even allied with France and Great Britain at the time. I think they were just trying to defend their homeland. If I could I would have designated the Russians as Axis.

This is one of my favorite scenarios as the Finns are nearly impossible to defeat. It is very frustrating with all that firepower as the Soviets. You're up against 3 figure infantry units and still get defeated.

Sorry for not being as clear as I tried to considering the name.

The current name (if it isn't fixed) is Viipurii. To me, both Viipuri and Vyborg are OK. I'm just used to seeing some city names like Göteborg -> Gothenburg, Köln -> Cologne, Praha -> Prague and so on, when the context is in English.

The letter i doubled was indeed the only thing I wanted to be fixed. By the way, I wasn't aware how tied the booklet was to online versions. Thanks for all the work for the M44 community.

Hello Zalamance,

being one of those involved in the creation of the booklet, I'd like to say that we have to adhere to the Memoir'44 Editor options tightly, with its constraints.

The Scenario Index included in the booklet has QR codes that redirect users to the appropriate scenario page here at Memoir'44 website, at the Scenarios from the Front section.

So, if we change something in the booklet that cannot be set in the editor software, people reading the scenario online can be led to some sort of misunderstanding and/or confusion. And above all, we want to avoid that because it will raise more questions that may end up in more amends to the booklet already released.

Nonetheless, I do accept that the name of the scenario should be the more accurate as possible, thus we will change it.

Thanks for your understanding and we are really happy seeing how more and more people is getting involved in the booklet or in the upcoming issues.

But please keep in mind our golden rule: due to the reasons I have mentioned we have to adhere to the editor as much as possible.

Regards
