Sharing maps between versions Wed, 30 October 2013 18:04
I googled around a bit, but couldn't find a definitive answer (so sorry if this is naive).

I've purchased the Steam, Android, and iPad versions (I also have the Pocket iPhone version). I seem to be able to share maps between all versions with my DOW account except the iPad. (Obviously the iPhone version only has 1910 and not Europe, as that is a separate download).

Is it possible to share maps purchased on Steam or Android with the iPad version?

As far as I can tell, backed up by the following text from the purchase pages for the online maps, it's not possible to share with iOS devices:

Quote:

Includes a free Steam key to unlock the Europe map on your Steam/PC, Steam/Mac or Steam/Linux version!

Humble Bundle users who paid less than the average: purchasing this expansion will activate the map on your DRM-free PC, Mac, Linux and Android versions of Ticket to Ride.

However, iPad, iPhone, Google Play, and Kindle users should buy the expansion directly from Ticket to Ride on their device - not from this page.

Apple's app store and Google Play's terms of usage don't allow us to distribute via their service and charge with another service.

http://play.google.com/intl/en/about/developer-content-polic y.html
"App purchases: Developers charging for applications and downloads from Google Play must do so by using Google Play's payment system."

In other words, with Ticket to Ride that you purchased on Google Play you can only play the maps that you purchased on that very app. If you purchased maps for another version of Ticket to Ride (via Steam, via Humble Bundle, via Apple's app store, etc.) these maps will not be available on Google Play's Ticket to Ride and vice-versa. Same thing for Apple's app store. Steam's terms of usage are not alike and allow us to share the maps on or from other sources. We wish they were shared everywhere, but we are not allowed to.

That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Why haven't you told us that before? I bought the recent Humble Bundle just for your maps... Sad

And, to give another hint: on my iPhone, I have access to the Europe map through "Ticket to Ride Europe". On my iPad, I should buy that map once more...???

The iPhone and iPad app required totally different work for it, so they are not Universal apps and require you to buy both of them.

Im confused on this as well. According to the site it says google play and itunes cannot have DLC's automatically added but I know this is false. After purchasing all the DLC on my steam version and logging in to my DOW account through the steam version it automatically populated my android version with all the maps I had purchased.

So is it just the iOS version that this does not work on? Was hoping to get all my maps on the ipad as well. This is not the pocket version either

Because of rules imposed by Apple, no maps can be accessed on your iOS version unless you buy them through In App Purchases through Apple.

I hope this helps.

Ok bringing this back up again

I just got smallworld 2 from the humble bundle along with the bonus mini expansion. This expansion activated on both steam, android, and my ipad version. All the other mini expanions are in game purchases

So how again are the ticket to ride expansions any different? Since obviously SM2 expansions can be transferred via account just fine and these are also in game purchases.

I have another game that did this fine as well, because they had their own third party account login just like all the DOW games have. Star realms allowed you to purchase one version of the game, create an online account, and then by logging in with that account on any version it unlocked the full version on any platform you logged in with that same account

So Im still not seeing how TTR is any different from SM2 or other games out there that can unlock across multiple platforms
