Question about "blur" card

How does the "blur" card work with creatures?
Let's say you attack my Giant spider. Can I let your roll your first swing, see if you get any hits, then play "blur" and apply it to the second swing (that checks for helmet symbols to get a critical hit)?
I'm guessing not, since this seems insanely powerful for only 1 lore, but thought I'd find out for sure.

Well, the card must be played just after your opponent declare his attack and before the first dice roll (see P.50). So you cannot play this between an attack roll and a critical roll in my opinion.

Great, thanks. Page 50 is quite clear.
