Response Length Thu, 19 April 2007 20:42
Well, we know there is a minimum to the response length (0 with a Vow of Silence, 1 otherwise Shocked ) to a question. Should there be a maximum response length?

I'm thinking if a question can not be answered with at most five words, then the question can not be asked. With a caveat that if all other players disbelieve the responsdant can not construct a five word answer, then the full answer must be given.

Would this not remove many of the 'abusive' questions that call for many pieces of information ("My question is in 24 parts. Part 1 is do you have proof Father X is innocent? Part 2 is do you have proof Brother Y is innocent?...")?

However, I don't have that much experience in some of the questions folks have constructed. Are there legitimate questions (considered so by the group) that would require more than five words to answer?

I played a couple games with these response rules. It seemed to go pretty well.

Responses can be:

  • Yes/No
  • Single Characteristic
  • Any number
  • Any Player Name
  • "I don't know"
