And also there's a bug that allows Ambush to be played from a sea hex (at least on Juno Beach).

I didn't get to post a bug report, but it's there.

Here's your chance to submit the bug report! Very Happy Just click on the link in my signature and send away...if you have to include a picture, just take a screenshot of the map or something and describe the problem in detail. Cool

#1 fix I want is for British tanks to be able to move 3. I think there's options for American tanks to move 2, so you could have that if you need it. But I have to choose between Americans that can move 3 and British that can "Stiff Upper Lip".

#2 fix is for artillery bombard to keep artillery active after you shoot, so you don't accidently switch to another artillery and lose the shot. I do that all the time, and my opponent did tonight. Armor Overrun doesn't turn off the tank that gets the 2nd shot.

I assume you're talking about when you want to have the British in a scenario other than the desert...Rolling Eyes Maybe the way to fix this issue would be to have a drop down menue in the Expert Tab that lets you pick 'Desert Rules' or something like that.

You do realize that you've asking for the rules to be changed, right? Does Artillery Bombard act any different in Expert Mode than it does in Normal Mode? And with Armor Overrun, the tanks get the extra dice for both attacks, as long as they are adjacent to an enemy unit! Cool

I've had it happen twice in tournament games where a player has gotten disconnected and the bot played at least one turn for him before he was able to reconnect. This can go against the disconnected player's strategy, and it can change the outcome of a tournament game, which is a bad thing.

When a player gets disconnected, don't have the bot take over automatically. Give the remaining player a dialog box saying, "[OPPONENT] has left the game. Do you want to Wait, Continue playing, or Exit?"

The really weird thing about my disconnect was the why and when it happended.

It was during Sam's turn -- two of his attacks had already been performed. The third attack showed a hit and flag against a unit of mine that only had one hex that it could retreat to. Before I saw the retreat and almost immediately after the combat dice were rolled, I saw a dialog box which stated I had been disconnected as I "had not performed any functions" (I am not sure of the exact wording there). As I had no fuctions to perform during Sam's turn (not even the retreat) this left me a bit puzzled.

In another thread be a good sport, we were discussing people leaving abruptly and how long to wait to determine if it's server problem or attitude problem. I was waiting for my opponent to return before I finished my turn, and got a message saying "you have been disconnected... because you weren't doing anything."

That's bogus. You should have at least a warning message.

I agree with the previous messages,
--> there should be a surrender button, or prompt.
--> it should ask you if you want to keep playing or wait.

I also got disconnected from the server last night, and couldn't get back into the game until my opponent finished his turn and the robot played my next card for me. You got to put a stop to that.

This is not a rule change. The rule is that an artillery must shoot twice for Artillery Bombard before you move on to the next one. But if you have 2 or 3 artillery, (sometimes shooting at the same target) it's all too common to forget which one you activated since there's no highlight and lose an attack by switching to another one. This happens ALL the time to me and my opponents.

Here's an idea which purpose is to make rank and score chart a more "truth relevant" place Rolling Eyes

The problem with the current method is that a player who wants to climb up on scoring chart, has only to play some specific scenarios and sides, avoiding hard battles.

This way, that kind of players pose themselves high in ranking BUTeven though they have a very big number of battles they are still low ranking officers(majors even captains with more than 800 battles).

I think that it's very unfair for the players who gave time money and play real good to find themselves under some unworthy players.
It's not the same to win 1000 easy battles as to become a colonel i think!
I could continue writing about this on and on but i think you already get the point Very Happy

My suggestion?
On the scoring chart we all should be able to see our position among our equals, thus a scoring chart for cadets another one for second lieutenants and so on........

Just signed up today. Love the game Very Happy

My first suggestions is that the hexes should be highlighted in different colours for the 3 stages of play at the point where it changes i.e. when you click Done! for Order, the ordered hexes immediately turn green to indicate that the units in those hexes that can now be moved. Currently selected hexes stay blue and only turn green once selected. Same with change to Battle. Immediately switch to RED to show that units are now ready to battle.

Hope this is clear enough to understand.

Also, would like to be able to click anywhere in the bottom right-hand box to select Done! - not having to accurately select the smaller box inside.

Appreciate the great game Very Happy

OK you asked for more ideas - here goes:

During game play -

1. How about putting player's location in with their name and rank at the top of the battle page?

2. How about a game clock showing duration of the game?

3. How about a turn counter?

Statistics -

4. How about showing player rank in a list of all the ranks? (A ranked list!)

5. In the service record, make the Info column into 3 columns - one for each of Won, Outperformed and Underperformed. This would make it easier to read - scanning straight lines down rather than centre aligned symbols. (I will work out how to post a picture of what I mean. . .)

(FWIW - not sure why the symbol for 'Won' is the same as the dice symbol for 'Miss' - albeit a different colour).

6. Make number 5 apply to the 'My Score and Rank' page in my profile on the website.

7. Make the sound for new chat entry louder. Great sound, just too quiet in relation to all the tanks, missiles, gunfire etc.

Well there are a few more ideas from me. Hope that they will be considered. Appreciate that it is not easy to accommodate everyone's wishes - but if you don't ask, you don't get.

Great game. Keep up the good work.

CHEERS.

You'll need to upload your pictures into a picture-sharing web site first and then insert the link into that HTTP:// spot you found. I use the free website "Photobucket" but there are lots of sites that will also work. Smile

We need to be able to save a game-in-progress, to resume at a later date.

(And create a database table of those adjourned games, so that when an adjourned oponent is in the Lobby, a mark appears next to his name and a menu of adjourned games can be brought up.)

Here's a real-life situation:

I got home yesterday after a 5-hour drive, and I settled down to a good game of Memoir. Just when the battle was heating up, my wife and daughter got home from a meeting, and my (frazzled) wife asked if I could drive our daughter to a rehearsal -- "now". I was in a game, so she unhappily drove.

Rehearsal was scheduled to end at 18:30, but daughter called a at 17:50 to say that it ended early and she needed a pickup. I was in the middle of another game. Daughter had to wait 10 minutes for me to finish the game before leaving the house.

The rest of the family's activities shouldn't revolve around one person's uninterruptible Memoir game.

I'll cross-post this to a separate thread, to see if other people have had similar experiences.

Instead of a arc of red arrows from hex of the unit firing to the hex of the target, while a defender chooses to activate a manual ambush the arc of arrows is white.

It is a classic tell to the attacker that the defender is deciding whether to play a manual ambush or not.

Wow! Shocked Shocked they should really fix that, but until they do I'm definetly going to use that knowlage. Twisted Evil Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil Thanks.

This happened to me today.

I had a 1 fig panzer ready to play Ambush against a 1 fig arty behind sandbags hpoing for that grenade or at least double flag. The arty was highlighted as ready to fire. I clicked on the Play Ambush tab but my opponent switched targets so that my Ambush was played against an full strength infantry in a fortress - so a 1d Ambush with no chance of avoiding that attack.

I wondered what happened, so my opponent must have noted those white arrows and in essence - by the switch - made me burn the Ambush where I did not intend to play it.

I think it is bad enough when your opponent knows when you have Ambush, but to be able to change targets and "trick" that card out of your hand - well, let me say I was not happy about it Mad

I never noticed the white firing arcs but I can usually tell that an ambush is about to happen because there is a pause while the defender with "manual" ambush decides to ambush or not.
TC just set up your ambush to manual and then you will be able to choose when you want to use the card, All the chosen units are committed to firing so it will come around to that unit then when the window asks you if you want to ambush click yes!

On the SFTF tab, add options to

> Show scenarios that I have rated 3 stars. (Regardless of other people's ratings.) Or add a column showing my ratings of the scenarios.
> Show scenarios composed by my buddies.
> Add the ability to search SFTF by author. Or add an author column.

DOW Crew,
With the anniversary of D-Day (June 6) coming up, I am wondering if DOW is going to have anything special for that day? If not I would like to make a suggestion. That would be to hold a D-Day Tournament starting on that day. I am thinking of a round robin, or a campaign type of tournament, not an elimination tournament. In a campaign/round-robin style tournament the winner is declared by the total number of medals. So even if a player loses, he still gets credit for the medals won. In an elimination tournament when you lose you are done playing, and in a campaign/round-robin style tournament you may lose a couple of close games and then come back later and win a few games and gain the lead in medal totals.
Since there are six scenarios for D-Day (1) First Assault Wave,(2)Utah Beach, (3)Pointe-du-Hoc, (4)Gold Beach, (5)Sword Beach and (6)Juno Beach, the tournament could be started on June sixth and end on June eleventh. Those are the order that those events took place, reference: http://www.armchairgeneral.com/minute-by-minute-d-day-timeli ne.htm
Players would be randomly selected to play each other in those scenarios on each day. There could be first and second place. If DOW ran the tournament awards could be handed out or even Gold Ingots or both. The campaign/round-robin style tournament could be down sized to be done in any number of days, or maybe just one day.
If a tournament is not possible maybe DOW could offer these scenarios to be played for free on June sixth.
Side note: If a campaign/round-robin style tournament a player who wins Utah Beach as an Axis player could be awarded a bonus medal to go towards his total.

It seems to me that there should be some sort of warning that certain scenarios don't count toward promotion. This situation is particularly egregious in the Mediterranean Front, where five scenarios (almost half) don't count toward promotion.

Also, since the scenarios don't count, the scenarios in question should be either "free" or cost only one GI, which would both draw attention to, and to make up for, the fact that the scenarios don't count.

If you read through the promotion threads you will find that your kind brothers in arms have outlined all the requirements for you, even to the point of telling you which scenarios are UNNECESSARY to play for promotion.

So enjoy the fruit of THEIR labors.

This might be an improvement if you're only playing to get promoted, but I know a lot of players who couldn't care less about the promotion system and just enjoy the game. Very Happy

I would like to see a column next to each battle which shows me how many times I have played that battle. Adding the number of wins as Axis or Allies would also be good. For example, it could be displayed like this: 100/20/60 (100 battles total / 20 Axis Wins / 60 Allied).

I know tho info is available as a download, but it is cumbersome to do it this way.

Sorry if these have been mentioned before.

The prompt for additional units that could be ordered off the play of a card appears on screen if you do not order all the units you can (even when you play a FF card and there is no possible way a 4th unit can fire due all enemy units being out of range - lol).

I would like to see these screen prompts:

"There are additional units that can move - do you wish to procede"

after you hit the tab to procede to the battle stage.

"There are additional units that may fire - do you wish to procede"

after you hit the tab to end the battle stage.

Once I accidentally clicked past the move stage after playing an Armor Assault. Two of my panzers could not fire and other two only got 3d attacks. If I had been allowed to move those units I would have had a min of 16d and probably more due to OR attacks.

Some indicator when the card deck is reshuffled by the bot, so that folks know that ALL previous cards played are back in play. See this post:

Even better: an indicator of the number of cards left in the draw deck. (same effect as the suggestion above, but additional info for the scenario with a sudden death requirement of an empty deck.)

I think that this is a a little too regulated. I think the game should be more like a face-to-face battle and even at home you know the deck is low but not necessarily the exact amount until maybe the last card. So lets keep the reshuffle but not necessarily an exact card count

I played a game against an experienced opponent in which one side had 58 dice rolls to 25 with a 43% hit rate to 16%. A nice feature would be some sort of I surrender feature so that one could end a hopeless situation and try again anew.

NEVER SURRENDER!

I have played battles and come back from seemingly impossible situations and vice versa.

The only reason for a Surrender button is if you had to quit the game, and didn't want to force your opponent to play the Bot.

I agree - especially since it's been 5 months since they made ANY announcements vis-a-vis Mem44 Online.

Some of the features I would like to have

In the Action Replay : have the final statistics like in the game.

In the Military page :
More filters like for examples :
a filter in order to ask only the games on on front,
or against a given opponent on a given scenario.
More Statistics, like how many scenario won

In the Excel Export :
your opponent and yours rank when playing the battle,
some nice statistics ( battles win since my last promotion)
I have some macro doing something like that but I don't think everybody have them or have time to do them.

In the Game :
Something to manage tournaments.
Create a tournament, open (see by everybody) close with invitation send to players
management of player, random opponent, use of rank, given opponent
management of scenarios, random both side, random given side,...
a player in the lobby can see if he has some games to play and send an invite to his opponent
tools to see if games have been played and the result.
With this DOW can create official online tournament where the winner gain some credits

We definitely need new maps online.

A few months ago (around decembre-february), the ranking table showed about 62 pages of players.

We're down around 44-45 pages.
And I personnaly know at least 4 new players (who began mid-may or after).

It's like we had lost about 300-350 active players, having around 900 active players (when a peak was around 1200-1300, not counting the nuemrous steam players).

Lots of official maps are not OL (battles in France 1940, campaign in Crete, ...).
There are SFTF that could REALLY be online (3 stars maps, even some 2 stars maps), because it's frustrating to play a great game, and see a few weeks later that it doesn't exist anymore OL (the creator has created a new map), OR not being able to play that map with someone who has no access to expert games...

Please, reaching something like 60 OL "official" maps (around 15 more than now) in about 2 months would be great, and it would definitely bring back some players eager to discover those new maps !!

Finally lost a game to the Ambush delay glitch. I pressed No as fast as I could, but my [bip] opponent knew I had it after the first two attacks. So he decided to Overrun NADR away, which was OK, since he went to a hill (reasonable). Then he decided not to attack my lone-fig armor with his lone-fig armor for his win, which is what I was saving it for. I couldn't win, and he killed my guy from a distance so I couldn't use it. Prick.

Here's what I say: when you got all the lines up between units showing potential Ambushes, you click either (A) the line or (B) the target you want to shoot. That way it's an automatic No for all the ones you don't want, and doesn't prompt you. If he chooses not to attack with that unit (B) or along that line (A), then you keep the Ambush and he doesn't know. If you don't click then it plays as before, prompting you each time.

Another glitch cost me an attack for the engineers on a 0 minefield. I'd forgotten that he stops to clear a 0. This doesn't come up as much as Ambush, but let's fix it soon, OK! There must be some official scenarios that have both minefields and engineers. That 0 should pop up like a card or dead figure and get off the map when discovered.

It's been a pissy day.

I decided not to buy more G.I.s since this game is still so buggy after a year. So I got about 40 more plays and then it's goodbye.
