Moving a statue of Anubis

Hi
My wife and I were playing the 2 player variant when a situation came up not clearly covered by the rules.
I had previously created 2 sanctuaries (1 of 6 spaces and 1 of 2 spaces). I then managed to lay mosaics which caused a 3 space sanctuary to be available. I wanted to move my statue from the 2 space sanctuary to the 3 space one, but wasn't sure if it's allowed. We resolved it by deciding that it WAS indeed allowed, but I would like some confirmation from you people if possible.
Thanks
PS Great game!

I agree with Sgt Storm
Once played you cannot, at a later date, move the piece to a better location worth more.
Having played this game a few more times now, the mosaics seem to be the best things to buy initially, especially when you are playing the 4/5 player version.
maximising your sanctuary areas is critical especially when the space available will be hard fought over by all players.
Played about 8 times now and enjoyed by all who have tried it out
