And you even had an attack that rolled 3 stars in that sequence.
Amazing.

It took me a second to figure out how you got 6 medals from 4 attacks! But then I remembered that Ponyri is worth 2 medals and it all made sense...

| deemao wrote on Fri, 28 October 2011 12:33 | Could I ask about something.. We played Ponyri last weekend and from the rules (dont remember exact words) was clear for me that if you occupied more town hexes then your enemy, you have got the two medals. So if you are on 3 hexes and enemy only on 2, you got the 2 medals. Nowhere was written that the enemy must be totaly eliminated from town - but it seems it's played this way in online version. So how it is guys? The same thing is in Red Barricades etc. Thank you.
PS. And why the soviets dont have the 2 medals at the start of the game?
|
The online version plays this battle correctly. The Allied player does indeed start with 2 medals, and you get the medals as long as you hold more of the hexes. You don't have to eliminate all of the enemy units from the town...
You might try playing the Online version again soon because I think you'll find that the rules are applied normally.

This confused me too, until Sam figured it out.
For some reason the battle replay only shows one medal for Ponyri. Sam started 1-0 in the replay. But it is really worth two medals when you play the game.

Probably my greatest online battle - a 34 turn slugfest at Warsaw which I lost to Second Lt. YouLose (congrats again!). At the end of turn 19 I was up 4-1. In turn 21 I reduced one of his infantry units to a single figure. During the rest of the game I rolled a total of 9 dice against this lone figure with NO HITS! I ended up losing this game 6-5.
I ended having to use my turns to retreat weak units (I had 4 single figure units still on the board at game end). I held the Barrage card a LONG time because it would only give me 1 medal and I needed 2 to win, so I elected to retreat weak units, and never got to use Barrage.
Lots of things I should have done better, (totally forgot about using Recon 1 as AirPower) but still, a GREAT battle!
afterthought: I wish we could see the game dice % after these replays...

HOLY CRAP! AND he held on to Air Power from the end of round 4 - that's mightly cold blooded!
Amazing play - give the man a medal... oh wait...
By the way - one little feature would make this replay thing EVEN better - a chat option... Henry Pelham and I had a long look at our games last night - but it was a bit of a problem having to go back and forth to the afterreport screen all the time. If it could possibly be included as an option in the after action, that would be even more awesome.

One of my best battles (gheintze, please, don't you think it would be great to rename that threa !?).
ARRACOURT with axis :
http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/fr/battle/?id=26 079980#replay:turn=1
i had very good cards, indeed, but my dice were so poor !!
I won 6/4, with, IIRC, 24% on infantry, and 25% on tanks (considering I sometimes did cut some retreat hex).
EDIT : on that battle, as an example,
- 7 dice on tanks on 1st turn -> 1 hit ;
- 21 dice on tanks on MY 2nd turn (armour assault) -> 4 hits (yes, less than 1 out of 5 !!) ;
- 3 dice on tanks on an ambush (his 2nd turn) -> 1 flag no hit (he couldn't attack anyway) ;
- 8 dice (close combat) on tanks and 3 on infantry on turn 9 -> 2 hits on tanks, 1 on infantry !
and on, and on...

Here's my worst move playing Online Memoir 44. It cost me the match, my pride and earned me the harshest comment I got from an opponent so far: "That's the stupidest move I've ever seen". I didn't blame him: it is the stupidest move that I've ever seen too

Why, of course! And I'm sure that was the case with you too

Well done Hellcat !!
Here is a game I won 6-0 in my last 2 turns (14 turns overall, 0-0 at the beginning of turn 12), St Vith with allies : my opponent did have bad rolls (0 dice out of 5 for playing "medics" on an armour unit ; 1 flag and no hit out of 9 dice on my armour units).

Today is the anniversay of "Sidi Rezegh Airfield."
As I usually do I played (at least one battle from) both sides.
Unlike my worst ever dice rolls (0/38 vs armour as Allies in Sidi Rezegh Airfield) today my dice and cards were running hot.
Battle 1 as Axis 5-1 in 4 turns (2 turns each)
Battle 2 as Allies 5-4 in 5 turns (3 Allied turns)
My thanks to Colonel Morgiliath for being such a tolerant opponent despite his bad luck.
My secret was to play a number of warm-up solo matches to use up all the bad dice and cards.

| hdescavernes écrit | @silenttimo the card is named 'barrage'. Hint to the english names : go to replay mode, right click on a card to open it in a new window or tab, then change the 'fr' part of the name to 'en' . Congratulations on your award
|
Thanks !
I wish I had won the "I love pineapples" instead : the victory would have been easier...
Anyway, I watched the replay, and my opponent's beginning was great, but at the end, he did not have lots of possibilities -no grey card [except the artillery one, with no artilery]or no center card !).
When I saw the 4 stars... I thought I had lost the battle !

I can't call this a "great" game, because this one was largely in the luck of the cards and dice, but it was so abnormal that I have to post it. My opponent -- Player210138, who is a very strong player -- did all the "right" things, even though it turned out disastrously for him.
The scenario was Ponyri, but it seemed more like Sidi Rezegh Airfield. I played 3 consecutive Armor Assaults, rolling 46% tanks and grenades. Totally wacky.
