Keeping Score Thu, 23 February 2012 22:52
My family has been playing T2R for a few months now. Love the game. One frustration: Players forgetting to add their route points during their turns. It slows the game and we end up having to recount all the route points at the end of the game. We have a mix of players - some young, some old. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this without modifying the game too much?

had the same problems with friends, especially when we are playing after few beers.
however, one guy needs to become an a**hole, and watch that everyone would move their scoring markers after they claim the route. constantly hearing remindings like: "have you moved the marker?" is really frustrating, so after a while everyone is rushing to move them before hearing this frustrating voice:).

Our solution....give up and count them up at the end! Ours is a (very very) very competitive family, so at the end everyone always wanted to recheck their score anyway "in case" they had missed some points!

Even if you do move the marker/scoring during the game, it is usually always best, at game's end, to move all the markers back at 0 and add up the routes again. Usually do the tickets first, and then the routes, via removal of the trains/wagons.

I only count at the end of the game - you always end up having to recount everything anyway (you especially do so when playing tournament games at Gencon). You can do your best to try to keep track going round but, frankly, it's hard to keep up with when all things are said. Why count twice? Do it all at the end and 'guestimate' in your head during the game... (you have to do SOMETHING during other people's turns...)
