Re:Nation Cup 2012 - Team WASA Fri, 12 October 2012 12:21
Doc: 3
GSV: 3

Game 1
Doc (start): VAN-MON + PORT-PHOE (126)
GSV: SEA-NY + DEN-PITT (111)
Game 2
Doc: DEN-PITT + DEN-ELP + DUL-ELP (107)
GSV(start): PORT-PHOE + CALG-PHOE (127)
Game 6
Doc: LA-CHI + WINN-HOU (94)
GSV(start): BO-MIA + NY-DALL (86)

GSV

Hi team,

I saw your schedules. Unfortunately I probably couldn't attend your matches on Wednesday (restaurant with my girlfriend Smile, wednesday or thursday). On Sunday, I'm playing Chess interclubs and I'm not sure to back on time for Vincent's match.

I sent 2 messages to Youki, but still no answer. Initially I proposed him on Wednesday or Thursday, but I had accepted to go to some party ; so now my best time would be on Saturday (anytime).

Good luck to you all!

NC Result - D.I.S. vs. Truckerteller Wed, 17 October 2012 22:57
Guys... unfortunately. Sad

Those that watched saw I played well and I didn't take any rash risks like I did against Pacap - Buzet. First game I won gloriously, which was a real good energy boost for me. Second game I played very concentrated and we tied for the longest route. Unfortunately he just had better tickets. 127-123 in his favor. Third match I start with Los Angeles-New York and Montréal-New Orleans. I discarded Kansas City-Houston... which I should have kept in hindsight. Let's face it, the other combination is just too difficult in an important match like this. He wins comfortably.

But then it happens...

In the fourth match he claims a lot of 6 tracks, but I keep my head cool and concentrate on getting the longest route. I succeed, BUT... instead of putting down 3 purple on Helena-Salt Lake City and 1 on Dallas-Houston, I should have taken a loco and put down 4 purple on Helena-Calgary instead. THEN I would have won. Now Truckerteller takes the win by 118-117...

I needed to make this right in the fifth match. I start with Dallas-New York and Denver-Pittsburgh. After some good thinking, I decide to block Truckerteller down south. I succeed as he didn't finish Duluth-Houston. I do make both tickets. But in the meantime Truckerteller claimed a lot of 6 tracks up north and wins with only 1 ticket.

Here I lost. So the last one was for honor...

Last match I had Vancouver-Montréal and Portland-Nashville. With around 7 locos it was easy. Truckerteller had the longest but saw what I had and drew tickets. No luck for him. I win.

So to sum it up, I did my best, but my mistake in the fourth match costs us a tie. I was too focused on finishing fast and getting the longest route. That was my mistake in the end. So instead of 3-3 I lose 2-4. Really sad, because I gave it all. But so be it. I improved my game play a lot since last Nations Cup match and I intend to keep this form up for the next matches. Giving up and moping around is not something I'm good at. Wink

I'm happy Kostasss won against Mr Bean. But now it's up to GSV3 and Super Chief to make things right for us.

D.I.S.

Youki 3.5 - Super Chief 2.5

Needless to say, I'm very disappointed.

Game 1: Tie. I planned a 45 length track, which forced me to overtake a card, but as I was first, it *should* have been ok, ... if I wouldn't played it so wrong at the end.

Game 2: I won. LA-Chi & Dul-ElP (for me) against Chi-SF & Win-LR. Plenty of locos, easy win.

Game 3: I won. With Por-Nash & SSM-Nash, I was a little anxious at the beginning, but I made many 6s, and was very fast. I even didn't try to compete for the longest.

Game 4: I lost. LA-NY & Dal-NY. I played 2nd, didn't get many locos and/or good colors. He was just faster.

Game 5: I lost. Por-Pho & Den-ElP for me, LA-NY & LA-Chi for him. After he played the 5 blues and LA-Pho, I decided to block Miami. Good job for him, he fooled me.

Game 6: I lost. I drew LA-NY, SF-Atl & Dal-NY... Threw out Dal-NY. He had 2 small objectives. Playing 2nd against youki, I knew he would probably go for blocking. That's what he did and he succeeded. Retrospectively, seeing the score, I think I would have been to forget LA-NY earlier, and just tried to do SF-Atl. Had I succeeded, I would have got 37pts more, which had made the game very close.

Seeing the very close score, I've many regrets on my 1st game. The 5th game could also have been quite different if I wouldn't have go for blocking. But it illustrates very well how T2R in some aspects is close to poker.

I was not present during the match except for the last game. Apologies for that, i completely missed the time.
Choice was difficult with SEA-NY (not LA-NY), SF-Atl and NY-DAL.
Probably less tough with SEA-NY and NY-DAL. as you have to join 3 cities instead of 4. In that case, you can also try to take all 6ers in North, finish fast and forget the second tix.
After 6 yellows, 4 blues and 6 greys, 5 blacks was really risky.
Youki's block started then.
Time to go to NY immediately (with 2 whites) and then take another route to finish the tix.
Of course, always easier to say than to play.

OK. You got another chance vs Pifbat, another great player.

Knockando - Apremont écrit le Mon, 22 October 2012 23:28

*135-122
Sea-Ny + Van-sanfe + longest vs Dall-NY + LA-Mia
nothing to do for Olof

118-114*
SF-Atl + Port-Nash + longest ? vs LA-Chi + Chi-Sanfe
Olof could have win ending faster without completing Chi-sanfe perhaps (spectators said.. lol)

*121-080 Van-Mon + Cal-Slc vs Win-LR (missed) + Den-Pitt
Olof was in denver and picked red before, I had a 2 or a 3 to play anywhere..so I played it in OC-LR Wink

Once more, nothing to do for Olof. Knock's block was even not necessary for the win.

118-117*
Port-nash +LA-Mia vs Win-Hou + Den-Elp + longest
At the end I have 2 red for 4 wagons, and knows he'll win if he plays a 3 or a 4, so I play 1 in Sea to have 2 tixs on my road, and draw...KC-Hou but Olof wasn't able to play a 4er and let me time for another draw...and Sea-LA Wink

No luck for Olof. Ending faster could was the key.

*115-094 Sea-LA + Hel-LA + longest vs LA-NY + Chi-No (missed) + a bad draw
I played only 1 loco during the game and no green. Olof was frightened and played the 6 green before the 2 to NO...but I had no more locos and only 4 green. I knew he had red, so I played the 2 Hou-NO for the longest...and blocked his 2d ticket ! lucky again, if he played Hou-NO before the 6 green game was for him.

Block in NO was inevitable. The only way was with 2 in NO before the 6 greens.

093-092* Den-Pitt + Win-LR vs Port-Nash + longest + Mon-No (missed)
I started a block when I saw Port-Nash (7 locos this time)...but stopped the block (5 white was possible) to make my tixs thinking I could have the longest... but he had it. lucky win.

Thanks Olof, it was my day.

What a combo! MON-NO was too expensive to claim the win. But well played Olof. Longest and avoiding the block. Great play. No luck. Was not your day. It happens.

Sorry team. A tie was not sufficient.
Good games on both side, but not enough points for the win in game 1 (we shared longest with that stupid 1 in Atlanta) and 5 (needed 1 card more for longest).

NC Result - D.I.S. vs. Ommie Sun, 28 October 2012 00:31
My apologies that I couldn't inform everyone of our matches today as I only found out a couple of hours ago that Ommie could play. I wanted to play our games this weekend, because I have little time next week (also the time difference makes it a bit difficult to schedule matches).

Unfortunately, she beat me 5 to 1 today...

I did the best I could with the tickets and colors I got. However, I made two crucial mistakes. If not, it could have been a tie. But, in all fairness, it weren't stupid mistakes on my part. Just needed more thought perhaps.

In the second match I had Helena-Los Angeles, Duluth-El Paso and Chicago-Santa Fe (Ommie had Vancouver-Santa Fe and Denver-El Paso). I really messed up her route to get the longest... or so I thought. I have to say she did a marvelous job of succeeding getting the longest route in the last turn. I had the game, but I made a crucial mistake in the end... She played 4 blue from Helena to Calgary. Here I should have played 2 green to Duluth-Omaha and use my locos to block her at Helena-Salt Lake City. Instead I play my locos from Duluth to Chicago. I was thinking: "She doesn't have blue anymore, so I play 4 blue next and finish with 2 green for the longest." It would have worked... if I weren't one train short.

In the final match I made another mistake that cost me. I made the first move and played 6 black and 6 orange and had enough locos (not to mention Los Angeles-New York and Los Angeles-Chicago). Meanwhile she put down 6 gray and 6 white up north. Her next move is 4 green at Denver-Helena. AT THIS POINT I should have put down 6 yellow (5 yellow, 1 loco). No, I wait. She claims it, and the match is pretty much hers after that.

You can read about it, but you should have seen it really, along with MY tickets and colors.

But still, regardless of my tickets, colors and (lack of) locos, let it be no excuse. The first match I won with Montréal-New Orleans and Montréal-Atlanta after all. No, truth of the matter is, that I was simply outclassed by Ommie. Again, I didn't make any stupid mistakes, but I made mistakes nonetheless. Mistakes that should not be made when playing the Nations Cup. And it are mistakes like that why I am no longer ranked in the top 100...

Guys, I'm sorry. I feel like I'm letting the team down with another loss and thus putting more pressure on you. But I really gave it my all and can walk away with my head up. But, alas...

Guys, all the best against the rest of AMD! Take them down!

Condoléance à tous les 2 Crying or Very Sad

Victoire 4-2 contre wagon net

Allez les gars on à déjà plus droit à l'erreur GO GO GO
