This belongs on a bug form, but I'm not sure how to indicate it. I don't think it will show up in the game logs.

When a player's connection drops in mid-game, we need a reliable way to get back into the game.

Yesterday, while I was playing three games against an opponent, my connection dropped several times. In three of the four cases, when I re-entered M-Online, I didn't immediately get the dialog box asking if I wanted to rejoin the game.

Once, I got the dialog box by entering the scenario as if for a new game.

A couple of times, I got it by repeatedly entering and exiting M-Online until it gave me the dialog box.

This is frustrating for both the player who is trying to get back in and the opponent who is patiently waiting. And they can't communicate with each other.

DOW, PLEASE FIX THIS.

(Special thanks to Mr_Simon for being a patient opponent throughout the ordeal.)

(Special slings and arrows of discontent to the bot, for completely misplaying my 2-2-2 card in one game.)

This should definitely be sent in as a Bug Report. It sounds like for whatever reason the 'resume game' feature isn't quite working right every time and it would be good for the crew to know about it.

I would recommend taking a screen shot of the Resume Game prompt and then providing a detailed explanation of the problem and what you tried.

I decided to submit a bug report after posting my message. (Complaining about a problem without doing something about it is just kvetching.) I didn't have any screen shots available, but maybe they can discern something from my logfile.

Agree 100% with Sam.
Usually, I repeatedly enter the lobby and leave to the game main menu until the rejoin dialogue box pops up. Sometimes it takes 5-10 seconds after I regained internet connection; sometimes it takes 3 minutes. I had one rare case once that took well over 5 minutes.
There should be an information box and an automated process of rejoining, in my opinion.

I have had this problem right from when I started playing MM'44 (a year or so ago). I had a spell when my ISP was being quite a bit less than reliable and I finally just quit playing because the rejoin process is so unreliable/unpredictable that it was completely unfair to my opponents. I ended up doing the same thing - leaving and re-entering repeatedly until the option to rejoin shows up.

I don't know if there is a reason it works this way, but it is pretty close to unusable for both the diconnectee and the opponent on the other end. Is it something to do with a bot having to replace you and make a move before you can rejoin and it simply takes that long before that happens? If it cannot be changed/fixed at least a logical explanation of the "why" would be nice!

I agree. It needs to be improved. Many times you can't get back to the game and you simply have to abandon it. In other cases by the time you get back in, too much time has passed and you lose several turns.
