1500 is the ranking all newbies start out with so the system defaults their game titles to 'New Players Only' - of course, you get a lot of old players playing in those games.

Although you do start at 1500, a person's ranking doesn't really settle down until the person has played 15 (could be 20?) games.
In other words, there is a lot of motion in a person's ranking those first 15(20) games.
And sadly, yes there are people here on the DoW servers who "protect" their ranking like it is gold. Whereas others (myself included) just want to have a good game and care less about one's ranking.
