India Circle Tour Bonus ? Sun, 27 January 2013 20:48
Help.

With the Mandala Cirle Bonus, could someone give an extremely clear example and explanation of what the rule means? We've had 3 interpretations. Help ? Thanks.

it is indeed very simple.
forget about magic circles for the moment - just look at this rule this way:

let's say you have ticket Peshawar-Rohri.
you connect it by Peshawar-Jacobabad, Jacobabad-Rohri.
now, you want to earn bonus points, so you have to connect this ticket (Peshawar-Rohri) by 2 different connections.
so you build your trains on Peshawar-Lahore, Lahore-Bhatinda, Bhatinda-Rohri.
you have earned 5 bonus points.

if you want to earn 10 points, you have to connect one more ticket this way.
let's say you have ticket Patna-Khandwa.
you connect it by Patna-Katni-Agra-Jaipur-Ratiam-Khandwa.
and then you another connection by Patna-Calcutta-Raipur-Khandwa.
so you have earned 10 points now.

but look at your map - you have two little circles and used a lot of your trains - not a good situation.

maybe it would be better if you got tickets with cities next to each other, let's say Patna-Khandwa and Dhubri-Ahmadabad.
then you just build Patna-Dhubri, Dhubri-Calcutta and Ratiam-Ahmadabad, Ahmadabad-Khandwa routes and you get one bigger circle with 2 different tickets completed with 2 different paths.
well, that's a lot better, isn't it?

so the best way is to do one big circle with all the tickets in it. it's extremely hard though reward is quite sweet.

now, what you can't do:

let's take same Patna-Khandwa ticket.
you have Patna-Katni-Agra-Bhopal-Khandwa connection, and then you do Patna-Calcutta-Bilaspur-Bhopal-Khandwa.
for this path you won't get any bonus cause both roads at one point use same route.

however, if you change it to Patna-Katni-Agra-Bhopal-Khwanda, and then Patna-Calcutta-Bilaspur-Bhopal-Ratiam-Khandwa - it's ok.
though paths did intersect, they do not use same route.

so the main rule is - if you connect cities on your ticket by two separate paths - you get bonus.

if you got any more questions feel free to ask.

Isn't it quite a bit simpler?

Pick two cities you have a ticket for. Do you have TWO ways to get between the two cities that in no way share trains (routes can cross, but not overlap)? If the answer is yes, that ticket qualifies for the mandala bonus.

Count up how many tickets qualify, check the table, score that many points.
