My 2nd scenario.
Let me know what do you think.

The historical precision should affects the playability/balance.

Hi, just tried it from both sides. IMO this game is too fast and depends too much on having luck or bad luck with the cards.

Maybe you should increase the total number of medals to win, or decrease the 2 medals for capturing the village from 2 to 1, or put some obstacles (woods or so) to avoid a lethal charge from the beginning on.

5 (or better 6) medals?
And changing Kohima from 2 medals to 1?

I'll made those changes and try it again.

Thanks

Experiment a bit and try out.

I prefer a scenario that is a little less historical but a real thriller.

So do I!
Will try this one later this evening, Dugrim.

I personally prefer to stick to historical accuracy. There are plenty of battles which make a thrilling gaming experience. I don't see the point of making a scenario of a battle that does not resemble what happened for real. Obviously some historical battles may not make a nice gaming experience.

Just my opinion.

I'm with stevie02, but I'll try to improve the playability.
Major changes:
1) Added jungle and rice paddies
2) 3-fig Japanese Infantries (Regiments and not Divisions during the battle)
3) Replacement of some infantries
4) 6 Medals instead of 4

Question: if you change the figures, the system still see the Japanese Infantries as at full strength (already tried this).
There's no way to change this?

The problem with trying to be historical accurate is that memoir 44 is a board game with hexagonal fields, cards, simplified units with simple rules, etc. It certainly is not a table top wargame that tries to copy reality as much as possible.

In reality the japanese couldn't dive in a cave in the far left top corner to pop up in the far right bottom corner in one turn where normal infantry can move only 2 hexes! Rolling Eyes
Or if you throw flags on troops on the botom line they can't retreat and suffer losses while in reality they simply would retreat off of the map.
And what about sandbags that disappear when you move out? Maybe the soldiers emptied them before leaving, in respect of the environnement. Very Happy

But just like in chess (that evoces medieval battle) I like the simple rules of M44.

I agree it is best to start from the historical situation but just because of the simple game mechanisms I prefer to alter some things to avoid a dull scenario and create a good battle. Without overdoing it of course. No snow in the desert or Japanese troops in Tobrouk. Very Happy

I will give your altered scenario a try one of these days.

By the way, do you know that there are already other scenarios that cover this battle? And they all have a lot of shrubbery Razz
