On-line game vs. board game

I play both the Memoir 44 board game and on-line version.According to the board game rules, an ordered unit may move and battle even if it moves into a different section not included in the card through which it is ordered. However, the on-line game will not let you do that. This has "got" me several times on-line. Is this a programming error? Thanks.

Im not aware this is a problem for the Online version.
Make sure the unit you've ordered hasn't either 'spent' its movement so that it can longer battle, or is without line of sight, or is not in range of an enemy. I'd be surprised if the online version of the game is acting up for you and no-body else, it's perfectly possible to play the way the board game was designed.

Thanks, but I'm sure none of those situations existed. In 2 examples that I can remember right away, once I moved an infantry unit one space (but to a different section) so that it was adjacent to an enemy unit and in the other I moved a tank unit 2 or 3 spaces (also to a different section) so that it was 2 spaces from an enemy tank unit. In neither case was I allowed to then attack with those units.

And I remember these 2 situations well because they just happened today. In the tank unit example there was nothing but clear terrain between my unit and the enemy unit- no possibly blocking hexsides, etc. At first I thought maybe I had been playing the board game wrong all these years because I have, in other instances, discovered (through the on-line version) one or two rules that myself and my opponent had been interepreting incorrectly in playing the board game. However, I double-checked the rulebook and did not see anything about battle restrictions when moving to a different section--so I decided to post in the forum. It has also happened before today. However, I do enjoy the on-line version immensely, as well as the board game.

Were you moving one hex into terrain of some kind (maybe a Forest or Town hex)? If this is the case, you can't attack because you moved into cover.
Can you look back through your replays and find the battles where this happened so we can see the situation? What you're describing should not happen in the Online game, so it would be good to see the situation and maybe report it as a bug if the program is doing something wrong. Any idea when those battles happened?

Do you know how to look at your Service Record? If so, we can look at the replay and see what's going on. If you create a Signature that shows off your achievements, we can also look through your battles to find the situation.

If your game was at MOYLAND WOOD let us know if you we're playing the Axis. or the Allies and we can review the game to see if what you say is correct.

Yes, I know at least one of the situations occurred in Moyland Wood, at 11:39 am. I think I may have another bug as suddenly my "Play Solo" link is not activated, not allowing me to play against the computer (it was ok before). Not sure what you mean by a signature.

I believe it was the rematch, and I was playing the Allies. I moved an inf one space, unable to attack, don't believe it was into cover.

It was late in the game, the german tank unit was at my side of the board, I moved a tank unit and inf unit behind it. A terrible game for me, anyway...

In that game, I saw you move an infantry into another section next to enemy armor and blocking its retreat on your last turn. But that unit moved 2 hexes. The tank only moved one hex.You should have inversed their movement and then both could have battled. So no bug, but just a small mistake on your part.

Which of your turns was the armour where you think it could battle?

Wow, I didn't know I could view replays. I have a little trouble following them, but it does look like I moved as you say--I meant to move the tank first and can't believe I didn't realize I did that. I can't remember exactly when the armor unit movement happened--I'll just try it out in future games and see whether it actually happens or whether I just thought it happened. Thanks.
