a medal "won" Sun, 21 July 2013 03:38
I was looking through the various awards and noted the Axis pilot killed 4 units with Air Power one.

I noted this battle which lasted 95 moves.

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=28 508607

Both players setup at least 4 infantry units on their own baselines in what appears to be an arrangement between the 2 of them just so one could get this medal. I had heard similar arrangements were made by certain players to get the now retired Arnhem tree. Hmmmm......

Well, it may have cost them each 3 credits. They should have chosen Pegaus Bridge or Juno Beach which costs 0!

Wow, 95 turns!! That is some dedication. And imagine if one of the Air Power rolls had been a Tank! Laughing

How did you even find that battle?! Razz

I imagine go into the achievements

Then into the one in question and see who has won it recently and at what battle

It could even be the same player using another computer and name alias just playing him/ herself. Not like this hasn 't been done before.

I think it is to be expected based on the dirth of awards provided by DOW in the last year that more creative gamers may decide to entertain themselves with loopholes in the system. Unfortunately it does cheapen the value of awards for that player.

I'm not sure that this is very constructive, guys. I guess I don't see a point in this line of posts...so some players want to get the achievements? That has been established and we can leave it at that. Smile

Hi Jesse.

I started this thread because I was amazed at what lengths a few players went to to get this medal (and I guess other medals too). I never thought about how constructive it might be but I did know what the point was.

If you look at a player's awards and see this one and wonder to yourself "How did you get that one?!). Then you see through the replay - "Oh, that is how you got that one "

The point is not that some want to get it, it is how they got it. The old ends justifies the means? I have known a few players over the years (thankfully not many) that have cheated. I assume that they did this to win, but I never got that line of reasonig either.

Now I am not saying that the obtainment of medals in this fashion is on the same level as being underhanded during game play, but again, I do not get it.

At any rate, I am not upset with them for this, but sort of laughing to myself about this.

Ah, very good point. I guess you could always be the winner Laughing

Another way to obtain a medal:

Just line up 4 plisonels of wal and shoot them with one bullet.

A replay doesn't always tell the story behind what happened.
You could add my way of getting the medal of 4 kills with axis air power to this list.
I don't care.

I've told the story of what preceded that game a few times. You can probably look it up in these forums.

Anyway, Jesse has it right: there is no added value to this line of posts.

Oh, but that would give me an even more important medal. Posthumously awarded that is. Wink
