Blitz Rules and Air Pack Mon, 23 September 2013 13:29
I am a little confused with regards to the Blitz Rules, in so far as they relate to standard Scenarios. I was looking for official, new scenarios where you only need the Base Game and Terrain Pack, which is all I have at this time, but they all seem to use Blitz rules and/or the out of print Air Pack! So how do I play these, or is there a separate section for standard scenarios using only the Base Game and Terrain Pack. No Air Pack or Blitz Rules rules needed! Thanks to anyone who can help.

When Blitz rules are in effect, Axis can use a Recon-1 as if it were an Air Power card, with a limitation based on the section of the Recon.

Without Air Rules, it's just a regular 4-hex "Air Power," except that at least of the hexes must be in that section.

With Air Rules, it either brings a plane onto the board in the specified section, or orders an existing plane in that section without an Air Check.

If the Recon is used as an Air Power, you simply draw one card at the end of your turn -- you don't get the "Recon choice."

Thanks for your reply, but as I am new to Memoir 44 and only have the Base Game and Terrain pack, I am unfamiliar with air rules, as I will never get or play with the Air Pack, unless of course DOW reprint it, so these rules are confusing, but thank you for clarifying them. Do you know where I can find official scenarios on the DOW site that do not feature air rules and Blitz Rules, so I can play them with just the Base Game and Terrain Pack? We have already played the original scenarios included in the Base Game and Terrain Pack.

Hi

You can go here:

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/content/scenarioapp/

If you look under the scenario info, it will tell you which expansions and boards are needed for each scenario. These are all official scenarios, there is a 'Scenarios from the front' option at the top of the page, these are not official but there are more filtering options available there so you can exclude the expansions you do not have, there are some really great scenarios there as well Smile

Just making sure you understand that the Air Pack is not necessary to play with Blitz rules. You only need the Base Game.

Also, in most scenarios, Air Rules are optional, so those scenarios should not be a problem.

Sometimes the Air Rules are referenced as required for a scenario because one of the terrain tiles or obstacles/units tokens are required for the scenario. I think this is the case sometimes. Examples would be when landing craft are needed. Check the scenario rules and setup and see what is required, as landing craft can be replaced by anything, even a random badge.

Like said above you don't need the air pack to use blitz rules. Alot of the "actions" card don't normally require extra things but are just rules. So if these pop u in a scenario just have a look on the card data base on this site.
