Hey Gamers,
will be moving to upstate NY in the Fall, will be working at Rome Memorial Hospital as Medical Director!! (pretty hot stuff) Kudos to me, but enough patting myself on back. After 33 yrs of doing Internal Medicine, in various ways, Private practice, Hospitalist, + administrative positions , I decided to apply for this position and Got it !!

Anyway, before I became a Doc, I was playing war board games from age 10, now 61. M44 is very enjoyable though can be frustrating at times depending on cards and dice.
Overall, most gamers have been very good natured and good sportsmen or women(there may be a few out there!).

To get to the point, there are no gamers in my current area, and although the online version makes things easier and opens the world to me, there is nothing like a face to face game.

So, I'm wondering if any of you gamers live around the Syracuse, Albany, Utica area in NY. Or if there is a gaming club in that area. Looking forward to some positive replies.

Thanks, Peace out! Steve

Are you also living in the Utica/Rome area or are you commuting from Syracuse. I live in the Syracuse area. I know the U/R area very well, but it's just far enough away that more than once a month is inconvenient. Also you'll gain 10 lbs. the food there is fantastic.

Any shops in your area that have gaming areas I have one in Vestal)? I am about an hour south of Syracuse and could do a once a month trip up there. If the good doctor could do like wise, we may have something going here.

The only place up in Syracuse is a store called Play the Game, Read the Story. It's in the old warehouse section. They are right next to the Spaghetti Warehouse. They have a pretty good selection. Mostly cards, light and medium weight boardgames Warhammer, comics and M:TG. . No hardcore wargames. There's a boardgame night on tuesdays I think. Never been there though. I've been told that Scott Nicholson of the old Boardgames with Scott fame comes once in a while. He's a professor at SU so it goes without saying.
