 who plays first after mass

So I get about Mass that player 1 moves the bell off the card and then everyone goes to Mass. Then Player 4 gets the Mass cards and the bell, but then does the original card holder, player 1, take his turn he didn't get because we went to mass? If the new card holder player 4 went then wouldn't they have two turns in a row?

No, the way I read it, player 4 gets two turns in a row as he starts the 2nd Mass. So mass goes like this:
1 2 3 4
4 1 2 3
3 4 1 2
2 3 4 1
1 2 3 4
...
Of course that is not they way I have been playing it as I didn't read the rules well enough.
