How come players can just stretch out the game forcing you to quit? Sun, 21 December 2014 03:19
Today I blocked someone causing them to effectively lose the game. The only problem is, instead of finishing or dropping out, they just stretched out their turns.

I didn't think that would work, as I thought Direct Bot would take over after an unreasonable amount of time. But this guy was able to make each turn last about ten minutes or so.

So, he didn't lose the points he should have, and I didn't gain the points I should have because I dropped out (unwilling to wait the hour or two it would have taken to finish at the rate he was going.)

How did he do it? And is there a way to stop it?

You can avoid him/her in the future by putting him/her on your "Ignore" list.

Deliberate stalling is an offense against the rules of DoW. It's explicitly mentioned in the Terms of Use; you can refer to that if someone does it again.

No Cheating

Days of Wonder does not tolerate the use of cheat programs, the reverse-engineering of protocols or code, the use of multiple accounts for the purpose of cheating, players' collusion or any other form of cheating in its online community. Any player found cheating will be subject to a one time warning, and the subsequent freeze of its account, reset of its ranking and/or permanent removal of player privileges, at Days of Wonder's sole option.

Fair play in Online Play

By joining any of Days of Wonder's Online games, you agree to exercise constant fair play vis a vis your fellow players. Any player found voluntarily quitting an online game before its normal completion, using stalling tactics to induce others to forfeit, or using foul or obscene language, will face, at Days of Wonder's sole discretion: the freezing of their online account, resetting of their ranking and/or permanent removal of player privileges.
