This crushing blow gave me a 10 point advantage in the first phase of the Normandy Grand Campaign. He would eventually fight back and win the campaign using strength of victory tie-breaker.

Looked very bleak early on for axis but elite tank unit turned things around on the right flank. This battle ended the flanking caen scenario with the axis winning 19-18.

After breaking through on the left flank it was easy to accumulate the needed six victory points. In this scenario it seems that Allies have a big advantage but I was also rolling well and my opponent snot so.

Gergo finally won his first match during the Flanking Caen campaign! He had a hard time, though, however, dice favored him. He also secured Hill 112, so Germans get to get outta' here. Because as the Germans said: "He who controls Hill 112, he controls Normandy".
The Campaign was won by me, but only a Minor Victory was achieved. Gergo is really an experienced player. He has beaten me seriously at Mount Austen with the Japs!

British armoured spearhead on the right wing gets behind Cornwall wood, but is repulsed by the 9th SS Panzer. Two all out assaults by the British centre overwhelm the German defense and it's game over. A victory for the British at last!

The Allies actually scored 6, but didn't take the objective hex necessary for victory... It became clear this time that the Allies have it too tough. They stormed to a 5-1 lead, but couldn't kill the game because the German line was too srong around the objectives. There will be changes...

Same game as below. This note just for the purposes of my Service Record.
This game suggested that perhaps the Hill 112 objectives are too difficult to achieve. Maybe the Germans should lose a tank unit, and/or one of their front line infantry.

At first, it looked like the German position was too powerful. Tentative Allied attacks were met with aggressive German counter-attacks and the Germans stormed to a 4-0 lead. Looked like the scenario needed tweaking... but to get to that point the German tanks had to come out to play, and became vulnerable. The Allies picked up a couple of medels, then a pincer movement took Hill 112 and took them to 5-5! They did have an outside chance of victory, with last ditch attacks by weakened tank units against infantry in towns and dug-in on the hills, but in the end the Germans took another medal to clinch it. Too early to play around with the balance of forces given the close score. I think this is winnable for the Allies.
The victory condition need for the Allies to take an objective hex gives you more of a sense of the blunt frontal attacks that Montgomery favoured. None of this furtive scurrying about on the flanks.
