The key to the German victory was to move the Axis armour into the centre early, to meet the Soviet attack on Sysoykin and State Farm 79 head on. The Soviets were able to roll up the German left flank without much trouble, and looked like they were headed for an early victory. Some good cards and lucky dice rolls by the Axis allowed the German player to snatch a victory from what looked like certain defeat.
The game was much closer than the final score indicates. The Axis player had three units each reduced to a single figure, and the objectives Lisinsky and State Farm 79 each changed hands twice during the game. |
The Axis took losses taking Lisinsky, but got the better of an almighty armoured ding-dong in the middle of the board. |
