A German CENTER ASSAULT orders 7 units and a massive rush forward results. My 2 fig Sniper is killed with double grenades and I also lose my forward infantry and another infantry is hit twice. A few turns later I lose my Elite Tank to 5d. I soon lose my other tank and seem to be in trouble. The Germans have some success with RECON AIR POWERs and I have lost several figs to the ice. But I finally get some hits on the panzers and kill off two of them in the center. I start an attack on right and am able to kill off a panzer and infantry.
I am able to use BARRAGE late in the game to kill off a unit which I would not otherwise be able to hit as they were on the German baseline. The endgame saw my strongest area on my right but the Germans were just as strong so a stalemate ensued there. My center was in tatters with a few weak infantry. My left was not in much better shape with some half strength infantry and a 1 fig arty. My opponent was content to use his arty and armor to try and kill off my weak left infantry but missed some key shots. I was able to use AIR POWER to pick off a 1 fig baseline unit to come up with this win.
The way the Germans started it looked like I did not stand a chance. But from the midgame on I was able to get back into this one.

LooneyLlama's Eastern SFTF tournament, round 3.
I picked up an opening hand that included two Assault Lefts, 2-2-2, Firefight, and two of my early draws were additional Left cards (including a third Assault, since the Russians had played TFH). Unfortunately, the Russians had as many Right cards as I had Lefts, and theirs were just as good. So my left flank wound up getting hurt very badly. I lost 6 units on that flank, including three tanks.
On the last turn of the game, I Infantry Assaulted in the center. Three units combined to kill a Russian SF infantry that had reached my back line and was trying to clean out my left flank. I moved a 3-fig infantry into the center factory. But the Russians responded with an Attack Center, killing my 3-fig infantry and deleting my factory medals.
17 turns, 6-12 medals, 35-34 figures. The dice were about even.

LooneyLlama's SFTF tournament, round 7, game 2.
This game lived on the razor's edge from turn 9 until its conclusion more than 10 turns later.
I started out with great cards: Recon Left (air strike on turn 1), Artillery Bombard, BEL, DHQ, Move Out, and first two draws were Assault Center and Armor Assault. Shortage of mobility cards through much of the game meant that I mostly stayed back and rolled from a distance. Meanwhile, the Russians were pecking away at my units -- especially with a DHQ on turn 7 that eliminated my two center tanks. After that turn, I realized that I was trailing, 3-10, and in serious danger of losing the match.
I now unleashed four consecutive air strikes, toasting the tank on my left. A couple of turns after that, my Firefight eliminated two weakened infantries, but I still trailed, 6-10. It took me three turns to shoehorn a pair of infantries into the protected hexes adjacent to the Tractor Works -- during which time I drew Close Assault, which then bagged me two kills and an objective on the left. Trailing now by just 9-10, with the match clinched.
A Russian Infantry Assault would kill my weakened engineer adjacent to the Tractor Works (11 points for the Russians ... perilously close), but my Barrage and TFH (4 orders, plus a lucky 3-hit on one infantry) combined to clean out the rest of the Russian Right, giving me sole possession of that objective. The next turn, a Panzer rumbled into the Barricades Factory.
Jaykay's dice were 57% (23/40) against infantry and 54% (7/13) against armor. My anti-personnel dice were only 41% (28/68). Card problems hurt the Russians toward the end, too, with them getting loaded with useless lefts.

The Germans began very aggressively. After an opening Probe that eliminated my lead infantry with 4 dice, they struck with an Assault Right, TFH (4 orders), and 2-2-2. The latter killed two infantries and gained a toehold in the Red October Factory -- the first of three times the Germans would move a unit in and then lose it. Shortly after that, my Assault Center killed the incroaching infantry and the German sniper. Score: 8-3.
On the Germans' 10th turn, they Armor Assaulted, getting next to four infantries, and fatefully rolled 0 hits (3 ignored flags) in 8 dice.
We skirmished some more on my left flank, with me eventually notching 2 kills and losing a tank. Then, with me leading, 11-5, Jim misplayed a BEL, thinking that if he killed my infantry on the factory hex it would cost me 2 medals. At the end of my next turn, I loaded an Infantry Assault under the chip, and on my turn after that, I eliminated the invader and clinched the victory.
