Historical Background:
On the 20th of August 1944,3rd DIA of general de Monsabert arrived near Aubagne, vanguarded by tanks of the Combat Command 1, 1st French Armored Division. The city of Aubagne was controlled by two or three battalions of the 934.Grenadier Regiment (244.ID) supported by some 88mm antitank guns, particularly one battery on the cemetery hill.
